Description

Remember when your workshop was full of clean air? Air-borne dust particulates can dirty up a woodworking space and harm a healthy respiratory system, but with the WEN 3-Speed Remote-Controlled Air Filtration System, you no longer need to worry. This system eradicates these contaminants by catching them in one of the two easily replaced filters while circulating the air in your work area. The powerful 3-amp motor leaves no stone unturned, collecting every contaminant in its path. The quiet system creates 63 to 68 dB of noise and is controllable up to 26 feet away with the included R.F. remote. The included chains and eyebolts make for easy mounting and installation in a variety of wood shops. The WEN Air Filtration System collects and releases the air in your workshop after filtering it through both a 5-micron outer filter and a 1-micron inner filter. Easily switch between three speeds of 556, 702 and 1044 CFM depending on what your situation calls for. With the self-automated timer, you don’t even have to worry about turning off your machine. Simply set the timer to automatically turn the machine off after a certain number of minutes, allowing you to easily give your workshop a thorough cleanse at the end of the day. And because this is a WEN Product, your 3-Speed Remote-Controlled Air Filtration System comes backed by a two-year warranty, a helpful customer service support line, and a stocked inventory of replacement parts. Remember when you could breathe easy in your workshop? Remember WEN.

  • Does what is intended to do..
Mine came and it was not damaged. However, by the packaging I can see why it could be damaged easily in shipping. It pulls air very well, no excessive noise or vibration. The air coming out of this unit is quite substantial. It's not silent as I did not expect it to be, but certainly quieter than my heat pump water heater and all my other shop tools. You certainly do not need hearing protection when it on. I got the more expensive 1000cf model, as my shop area is 22 x 28 and I can just leave it on low. If you look at this WEN it looks identical in all ways in the photos to the JET model other than the WEN stickers and black paint job. The handles, the size, weigh, lights for speed and power are exactly the same (must be from the same place) even the CFM for the speeds are exactly the same.. all for several hundred less. Mine starts and stops with the RF remote... I have had no ghost starts like some have reported. It was a bear to hang at 55lbs as the ceiling is 9.5 ft. If I was to change anything would be the remote, That would be to add some kind of clip so you can keep it mounted somewhere to find it. I guess I will use double sticky tape to hold it somewhere. As a note it does not come with eyebolts, but hooks with orange plastic on them. There is no chain for mounting or batteries included. If your rafters are at 24" centers the hooks line right up as they are also on 24" centers (lengthwise) ... show more

  • Moves air extremely well, does the job as described
I have both the larger and smaller unit. The larger unit moves air extremely well which will show immediate results. I could see the sanding dust (metal and wood) pulling into the unit. I’m very happy with its performance. On the downside it is pretty loud. The smaller unit is relatively quiet and does an ok job moving air but there is no comparison to the larger unit. If you are on the fence regarding which to buy bite the bullet and pick up the larger unit. It’s well worth the additional cost. 2 car garage hanging from the ceiling. ... show more

  • Fine purifier but arrived damaged
I think this is a fine air purifier. Gives a good breeze in my 24 x 32 shop (though I haven't yet worked long enough with it to see how well it picks up air borne dust). Fairly quiet, though not whisper quiet as I had hoped. About 64db on low and 68db on high as measured from an average of three non-calibrated sound meter apps. The sound is definitely noticeable when it is the only thing running in the shop. There are several of these purifiers offered by different manufactures (Shop Fox, Jet, Grizzly) which all appear to be identical in size and spec's except for the color of paint. I suspect they are all manufactured in the same facility overseas with tiny tweaks. This one seems to be the cheapest. I was mostly disappointed in the condition of the item when it arrived. It arrived on a rainy day and once cardboard gets wet, forget about it. So the box was mush but It wasn't packed very well to begin with. This thing is made with very thin gauge sheet metal - maybe 24-26g. You don't have to try hard to dent it or warp it all out of shape - which was what had happened. Since the box was trashed by the rain and I didn't want to go through the hassle of re-packing it and shipping it pack, I just figured I can straighten everything out well enough so at least the outer filter could fit in without crimping. Thankfully, the inner, expensive, 1 micron filter is mounted in an aluminum frame and was not damaged. In fact, without that frame inside the sheet metal, The sheet metal box of this purifier probably would have been more mangled. After getting the case straightened and just as I was about to hang the thing, I noticed the cord had also been damaged by a corner of the case. Dang! So, I had to deal with that, as well. Anyway, it's a fine air purifier for the money and except for my little troubles I would purchase again. JR ... show more

  • Great shop upgrade
I'm very happy with the WEN air filtration system. It works great. It seems to really reduce the dust in the air of the shop. I like the timer feature. I set it to run for an hour or two after I'm done and it really makes a difference in how much dust settles out around the shop. It could be quieter but it isn't overly loud in any case. The RF remote works from anywhere in the shop. The only issue I had was installing it. The ceiling in the shop is only 7'. I couldn't hang it from chains. This seems to be the way it was really intended to be mounted. They give you brackets which I used but the dimensions between the brackets doesn't line up with ceiling rafters. I had to install extra bracing in the attic to mount the unit to. It wasn't terribly hard but it made the job much longer and more involved than just hanging it from chains. ... show more

  • I should have bought an air cleaner for my shop years ago
Through the recommendation of my son I purchased this air cleaner for my wood shop. I should have done this years ago. My dust collector works great removing saw dust from my table saw, drum sander, jointer, planer, etc. but doesn't get the microscopic wood particles in the air. This air filter helps in reducing the amount of wood dust in the air, not totally of course, but it's noticeable. I use it every time I'm in the shop. I vacuum the filter about every third or fourth week and it's surprising the amount of dust on the filter. So it does help. The only issue I have is that it does turn on by itself occasionally. A couple times I have gone out in the shop in the morning to find it running. After calling the company they suggest adding a remote RF switch which I did. A little nuisance to first turn on the RF switch then the air cleaner but nothing to really complain about. It works. But it is an added expense. One time I was working in the shop and the air filter suddenly turned on. I ran outside to see who just opened/closed their garage door or any other activity in the front, back, or side yard but didn't see anyone. So who knows where the radio signal is coming from that starts this thing up. But again the remote RF switch solved this issue. This is also fairly quiet considering the amount of air it's moving around. Not distracting at all. I have mine hung from the ceiling. ... show more

  • PCB died now Im SOL
This thing does function as a filter, for a couple months. The thing randomly turned itself on once but now its completely dead. Have looked at the PCB and troubleshot it and the chip on the board is fried. The triac's are fine along with the other surface mount components. There is no information on the chip to be able to replace it. Filed a warranty claim and they promptly replied they would send me a replacement PCB. Well the PCB has been out of stock for a couple months now and there are no signs of ever getting its replacement. Believe what the other reviewers are saying, Wen stuff and their warranties are hot garbage. ... show more

  • Randomly turns itself on.
The unit does work to remove dust and is reasonably quiet, but on numerous occasions I've walked into the garage to find it had turned itself on. I'm absolutely positive this isn't just me forgetting to turn it off as I leave the garage. because today I walked into the garage (after coming home from vacation) to find it turned on - who knows how many days it had been running. I turned it off, only to walk in again a few hours later to find it had turned itself on again. Since the unit is mounted to the ceiling and the plug isn't within reach of a switched outlet, this is a real problem - for the filter life as well as for my electricity bill. ... show more
