I practice Iyengar style yoga and use the pull and counter pull techniques in all poses. Grip is of the utmost importance for this. Rubber mats are the best for grip and that's my main mat. However I cannot stand odors and it took me more than a year before my rubber mat slowly lost it's odor and I was able to use it indoors. It was also heavy and completely unsuited for travel. Enter the WeMe mat (TPV?) - the weight and the folding configuration are perfect to throw it into my rollerboard or even a Laptop backpack. However it has only 80% of the grip of a rubber mat. So I made a hack. I got a roll of this - "Non-Abrasive Grip Tape Roll by CatTongue Grips – Heavy Duty Non Slip Tape for Indoor & Outdoor Use, Customizable & Waterproof Anti Slip Tape for Thousands of Uses (Clear)" https://a.co/d/5508Scj I first where my hands and feet make contact in Adhomukha Svanasana (down dog), wiped that area clean with alcohol, and stuck strips of the grip tape. And the sky is blue again! I now have the best of all three worlds - light weight and packable, odor free, and great grip. Now you will notice that I placed the grips just above and below the seams so as not to interfere with the folding action. That was good, but if I had to do it again, I'll leave a half-inch gap on either side of the seam, and that would be perfect. I also used two strips side-by-side. I think one would be enough to give a great grip. Better still, use a three or four inch wide grip. The grip tape doesn't add much weight. The one I used is supposed to be a transparent tape - but at best it is translucent and it isn't pretty. Black tape may look a little better. I wish the tape were a little thinner. The black grip tape used for staircases is thinner, but I decided not to use it because it is too abrasive. Hope others try different mods and report back. Keep balancing, - AdiYogi

This is my new fave yoga mat! I have currently been using my current 6mm yoga accessories white yoga mat (you wouldnt believe how hard it is to find an affordable white yoga mat) for the past 2 yrs and while its ok in the comfort department, its very slippery for me in any type of yoga pose, my hands slide too much. I have been looking for soo long on a replacement that is non-slip and its crazy how hard it is to find a WHITE yoga mat that is comfortable and not less than 6 mm. Although this mat is also measured as 6 mm, the way it is made makes it feel thicker somehow, plus its a bright white, and it does have non slip material on the top of the mat so I no longer slip!! Time will tell with the longevity of this mat, but I love the color, love that it folds so the underside of my mat's germs dont get on the top of the mat I lay on, and the portability! 5 stars so far, have only used once so far, will update should my thoughts change on this mat, but for now, love it!

This is a very good yoga mat for traveling. I've tested it at home for several features important to me: - comfort: it's pretty thick and cushioning, I can do HIIT and yoga on it very comfortably. - not slippery: here's where the other mats failed and this one shines. NOT slippery when I'm sweating! - weight: surprisingly light for its size and thickness - packable: appreciate the included bag, making it easier to pack nice folding creases which flatten out when you place it on the floor - "stickiness": use it on top of a rug and it will move a little, but it's not a problem for me. On bare floor it stays in place. Cons: - it will fill up some of my suitcase space, there are slimmer mats out there. But for me, it's worth it because of comfort using it. I wouldn't even pack those other thinner mats as they were basically useless for me. The pros of this mat outweigh the only con I could think of!

At first I was not sure about it being a fold-up mat instead of a roll-up mat. After I used it, I realized that I loved it! 1) The fold-up design it great because all the surface that touches the floor gets folded together and never touches the topside that I do my practice on! 2) The design and the fold lines are so helpful with me getting my alignment in various yoga poses. ie. In "warrior pose" we are to align our heel of the front foot with the inside of our back foot... I never could figure it out. This helps me with that alignment issue. 3) It is not slippery - even in hot yoga class. I am able to keep my feet and hands stable in the position that I want them without them sliding. So, I love it!

I love it! I took it on my trip and it fit nicely in my suitcase. I also don't need to worry about using a dirty side unlike a rolled up mat. It came with a bag but I'm using my own bag so I'll have room for my bottled water.
