I built custom homes (264) in Naples Florida for 25 years and when I purchased this shelf unit for my new home, I only hoped it would be up to my usual picky standards. When it arrived and I opened the heavy duty cardboard box, I was more than delighted with it. It was perfect!!!!!! It even came pre-painted the same color as my other wood work and crown molding. The miter cuts were perfect. It came with all the necessary screws and hardware to hang it on the wall. You will need a level, drill with 3/8 drill bit. It took me about 20 minutes. It is exactly as advertised. Not so wide that when its used over a fireplace, your head could get bumped. It blends well with my decor, is wide enough to hold a couple things. Very classy, easy to install.

I searched high and low for liquor shelves because I needed a shelf that was only about 5 inches deep. Most shelves are 12 inches deep and there wouldn’t have been enough room behind the bar as it’s a tight space. I found the shelves and thought what the heck I will give them a try. I read all the reviews and realized that it might not stand up to the weight of the liquor bottles so my carpenter actually installed these. instead of using the two tiny little blocks that it came with he made his own long block the size of the back of the shelf. this made it so much Sturdier, and he also used the anchors. For triple protection, on top of that he put screws in the top which I capped off with white screw caps. all in all I’m very happy. I was worried about them being warped as I read some reviews about that but I ordered 3 and none were warped. I would definitely recommend the shelf- but if you plan on putting more on them than lightweight things - definitely have it professionally installed with some modifications. I love them! We purchased 4 sizes, 48in, 36in 24in and 18in. All are well made and beautifully finished. Really like the French cleat mounting system. Super simple installation that allows easy side to side adjustment. Our only negative is that it requires two cleats for each shelf. The 24in and 18in arrived missing a clear. Called Amazon customer service (now there's a trip through the lookingglass). Cant send out cleats, must return the whole thing and reorder. Grrrrrr. I bought several of these floating shelves to use throughout the apartment. They were easy to install, packaged well, no damage. It is so easy to change decor & pictures now without putting more holes in the wall. I did have one come without the installation blocks, I contacted the company via email and they were shipped out and received three days later. See my before and after pics. Flipped a condo, this is the best $64 spent on renovations. Took the plain fireplace from builder basic boring to a pretty feature without going to the cost or trouble to tile. Hubby said it was a breeze to install. I'm so glad I found this shelf to go over my wall hung fire place. I could have invested in an expensive mantel; but, I was broke at the time. And I'm so glad I was because I got the same beautiful result for my mantel that would normally cost hundreds. Very easy to install.

Sure beats fabricating this from scratch. This unit is light weight, sturdy, and easy to install if you have experience working with wall anchors since finding studs in the right place are difficult.
