I bought this for my husband almost a year ago, and he is still raving about hiw great it is. He had been using a really old one from like the 70s, and it was bad. Really foggy and just about worthless. This new one is like a breath of fresh air, clear as a bell, auto dim (omg what they come up with in 50 years!!) And zoomy flame design! He's a happy old welder now, even if he rarely welds anymore, he's in style when he does!. All in all, an excellent product for a reasonable price.

I did wait a few weeks to write this review, because, I was skeptical at first because of the price. I mean, how good can a $30 welding helmet be. I was wrong. I am not a welder by trade or by education. I learned to weld on my own because we needed to make repairs in my job in a family owned equipment repair company. Anyway, this helmet is many times better than the Harbor Freight auto-darkening helmet this one replaced for half the cost. The true color works, not the best in the world, I mean come on it's $30. It darkens fast, shields my eyes and face, even has an rechargeable led light on top for low light situations which is detachable so you don't have to walk around looking like a miner. The best part is, it has replaceable batteries and extra clear splatter shield, where the more pricey Harbor Freight ones do not. The helmet has plenty of adjustment to fit pretty much any head. I am sure there are plenty of actual welders that would disagree, I like the helmet and I think it is a great product fr the home owner, casual welder type of person that doesn't use it all day every day. Glad I chose this model and I think yo would as well.

the hoods ok, the light is going to get knocked if you go under stuff, and break the fingers holding it . not for inside work.
