Great scope. use it as a hospitalist. Personally, I like the acoustics better than the Littman Cardiology. Plus, it's nice to have a bell. The chest pieces can come loose from time to time which really isn't an annoyance but more FYI. What I'm still trying to adjust to is how tight the ear tubes are. They are a bit more snug than the other as above. Certainly not a deal breaker but something to consider. All in all, I'm happy with it...hope it's the last one I have to buy! ... show more

I own 3 Harvey DLX scopes. They last on average about 10 years before the tubing fails. The soft earpieces typically fail after about 5-8 years. I didn't actually need to buy new scopes. You can replace any component of a Harvey DLX. First off, this stethoscope has all the basics to complete in the "cadillac" class of stethoscopes. It's dual lumen, double headed, etc. But unlike Littman, this has a true bell (not the tunable diaphragm), and also has a novel corrugated diaphragm that is easily my favorite and excels at midrange frequencies. The headpiece is masterfully constructed, and with enough heft that you can use the bell correctly (low/no pressure). Secondly, it is very modular. You can change out the ear pieces, the diaphgram, the head pieces, everything. You can certainly do a "Ship of Theseus" on this and just replace every part of it if you like. If you don't use the bell ever, then take it off and swap it out with an infant diaphragm, or a flat adult diaphragm. You've got options. Third, there are improvements made in the last several years. The rubber is more compliant and a little longer than in the past. I had concerns about possible degradation of sound quality, but the newer ones work great and I don't notice any difference. I recommend this scope to any medical provider who needs to listen to hearts or lungs. It's worth the investment. Welch Allyn is one of the great medical instrument manufacturers. I got this one to replace the one I had in medical school that finally wore out and this is equally as good and I expect equal longevity.

I am an RN with 30 years of experiences of stethoscopes “walking off”. I ended up buying cheap ones that were less appealing to equipment thieves. However the cheap ones really sacrifice clarity. This is a fantastic stethoscope for discerning heart tones, regular and irregular. Not mentioned in the copy but equally important to me, it’s brilliant for lung sounds too. This has a sturdy construction that won’t kink or tangle. I prefer the shorter length. There is a s no real place to get this engraved so it just will not be lent or put down anywhere. While I appreciate the little name tag attachment that was included, that really won’t stop anyone. Very happy with this professional quality stethoscope. ... show more

I’ve try to start using this new scope, but I anticipate enjoying its heft and solid feel. What I’m most disappointed with is the kit didn’t come complete from the factory. Multiple locations say it comes with 4 eartips. This kit came with 3. Others have complained for the same reason. If I don’t get a satisfactory response soon, back it goes and I’ll go back to old brand. ... show more
