  • suction gauge works very well
I used this suction cup to help replace a 3 foot by 5 foot sheet of window glass that had a broken corner. It worked flawlessly. The gauge allows you to monitor the amount of suction the device has as you pump it up. I pumped it up to a little over 400 and it held the large sheet of broken glass without slipping. I then used it to install the new sheet of glass and again it worked flawlessly. I have since used it to install 4 more large sheets of glass with the same results. Worked perfectly. My only negative comment would be the user instructions. My suction cup came in a sealed case and there was only a one page sheet that does not actually tell you how to use the unit (just tells you how to clean it), but if you watch a basic video you can learn how to use it. It is really very simple and straight forward. Don't let this stop you from buying it. It is well worth the piece of mind knowing you have a dependable suction cup. Make sure you remove the cover on the bottom of the unit before you use it. There is a button on one side of the unit to pump it up and a lever on the other side to let the air out. ... show more

  • Ordered 4, 2 didn't work out of the box
The media could not be loaded. The concept is perfect. The execution is bad. 2/4 straight out of the box just didn't work. I have perfectly clean glass and despite that the thing wouldn't build any vacuum. This makes me concerned about the two that did work... Anyways.... Complete garbage Update: I fixed mine. What you see in the picture is the little piece of rubber that serves as a valve. It turns out the one assembled in the device was oversized so it wouldn't seal properly. The spare one is the right size so the product worked after I rebuilt it. Still unacceptable ... show more

  • Excellent Grip. With case and integral pressure gauge!
I use this suction cup on a regular basis to maintain the inside of an artsy/mechanical heavy glass table. This means removing and replacing the heavy top glas a handful of times a year. This suction cup lets me do it with one hand (though I still use a second hand just in case) and the vacuum pressure gauge makes me feel confident I won't drop the glass. ... show more

  • Really sticks good! Costs a little more than others but the gauge and carrying case are worth it!
Got this and immediately gave it a try on a heavy marble pastry board I have. It grabbed hold and stayed put, no way it was coming off till I wanted it to. If I remember my high school physics right, an 8 inch suction cup should hold around 700 pounds, the product says 500, probably to give you a safety margin. These things are great for (literally) getting a hold on anything smooth and heavy to make it easier to move. That means big sheets of glass like a coffee table top or window, marble for counter tops and large smooth tiles. Uses people don't think of as much is for moving furniture and appliances. A wood desk, fridge, stove, table or similar are often on glides or wheels but are still hard to move just because they are smooth and don't have a good place to grab hold of them. With this, pulling the fridge out for cleaning is easy, stick it to the front and you have a good hand hold right away. Worked great on my heavy desk too, it's on glides and not hard to push, but it is hard to get a grip on to pull or adjust it, this suction cup makes that easy. This suction cup is very similar to others that sell for $10-$20 less, but this one has a couple of things that make it worth paying a bit more. The main thing is that it has a vacuum gauge that gives you a real good idea of how good a hold you have. If you stick it to a surface that's too rough or anything is making the vacuum leak, you will see the gauge falling right away and know how much time you have left. Without the gauge you might get to moving something heavy and not realize you didn't have a good grip till it was too late! With the gauge you know right away. The other thing is that this suction cup comes with a case. Others I've looked at don't. Since you really need to keep this clean for it to work, it's good to have a case to keep it in. They also include some extra seals/filters and a long wire hook. The instructions you get are pretty minimal, they don't show how to change the seals/filters and don't explain what the hook is for. There is also a plastic cover for the face of the suction cup to keep it clean and undamaged. So it works great, and getting the case and vacuum gauge make it worth paying a little more for. ... show more

  • Expensive but unique. The vacuum meter is wonderful.
I got this to move flagstones which are heavy and have sharp edges. For that application this works well, and I love the vacuum meter. When you get this into the green, which can take ten or more pushes of the plunger, you have achieved a sufficient vacuum to lift most anything. I love having a vacuum meter as it provides a visual aid in deciding whether you have a decent coupling. I have a number of these types of vacuum lifters, but this is the only one with a meter on it, and I love it. I gave this four stars solely because of the cost, which is too high. But if you are a professional, this is worth the money. I bought two similar lifters a year ago for less cost, but then neither had a vacuum gauge. I was never able to achieve a vacuum better than 450 mmHg with the pump. Not sure if the pump was faulty, or this is a design limitation. But if you get past 400 mmHg, you have plenty of lifting power, so I did not take off any points. If you are lifting flagstones, you may wish to wipe the surface with soapy water first. It helps hold the vacuum longer. ... show more
