  • Meets expectations t this price point, but it's not 760 pound pull
Size: 2.36" 760LBS Style: Double Hole Kit
I haven't used it in water yet, but it pulled a bucket full of nails and staples from my burn pile. That alone could have saved me the cost of a tire on the lawn tractor. Thread locker was a nice add-on, rope seems strong enough (pull the knots tight before you use it). Grappling hook will be good to retrieve things that the magnet can't quite lift. If you read the description carefully, it's a double sided magnet with a 380 pound pull rating. Either side will let go at 380 pounds, so you can't count that as pulling 760! Pull force is measured on a perfectly flat plate, pulled directly away. It will break free at much lower force if you rock to one side or slide it off. That's a good thing. I wouldn't want a fishing magnet that requires a winch or come-along to get it loose from whatever it sticks to. Max force only occurs when there is no gap between the magnet and the ferrous or nickel object. There's barely any force after an inch or two. That's expected. Do save the foam that it was shipped with to protect your car. If you carelessly toss this magnet into the trunk of your car and let this stick to the inside of your fender, you will almost certainly cause a dent when you pull it loose. The gloves are useless - really thin and won't fit a man sized hand. Do go get a decent pair of gloves unless you're a tough guy who is up to date on your tetanus shot. There will likely be metal slivers too small to notice stuck on this magnet that will still have the ability to pierce skin. Stuff pulled out of the muck at the bottom of a river is definitely not sterile. The grappling hook looks to be strong enough, and thankfully comes with bits of plastic tubing to cover the points - and that's needed because those points are very sharp. The carabiners appear to be good quality and made from stainless steel, but they are martensitic stainless, meaning that they are still weakly attracted to a magnet. I expect that they will have a tendency to snap down onto the magnet when throwing the magnet into the river. That will sort of defeat using the side pull to keep the magnet facing the river bottom. ... show more

  • Good Magnet
Size: 2.95" 1000LBS Style: Double Hole Kit
The magnet is strong and the rope that came with it is well made. The magnet is not real heavy .

  • Surprisingly decent for a cheap magnet
Size: 3.7" 1725LBS Style: Double Hole Kit
Needed a cheap magnet while vacationing to test out certain areas before using my Brute magnet. This was a surprisingly decent magnet for the price. Comes with thread locker so put that on 24hrs ahead of time. Weight was not as heavy as it looks, lighter than my Brute 1700lb double sided. I give it 4 stars because the rope is only 6mm. I used a better rope from another magnet I had. (use at least a 8mm, or 10mm if you have it) Also the grappling hook is very tiny. Didn't try that because I have a larger one from another set. We usually magnet fish in Arizona, so I can't fly with my good magnets (Gals Outwest Treasure Hunting) There were heavy items I got impatient with not being able to get out, so used a 2625lb magnet. This should not be a full time magnet for an all the time magnet fisher, but works ok in a pinch. ... show more

  • Almost what I expected
Size: 3.7" 1725LBS Style: Double Hole Kit
It feels like a nice heavy duty magnet. It is heavy and the 2 eyeholes allowing it to be used in 2 different ways makes it nice. I did not lock the one eye socket as I wont ever use it that way where it might come out, but I like the flat side down option for screw cleanup and stuff. Has a good grip, but not as strong as I would have expected. I think I just expect a lot more pulling power based on weight ratings, as this has been the case more than once. Though this is the strongest magnet I have bought, if I was really trying to do magnet fishing as a regular thing, I would upgrade the strength even higher. ... show more

  • Good beginner kit but magnet is not very big or as strong as anticipated.
Size: 2.36" 760LBS Style: Double Hole Kit
The magnet fishing kit was exactly as pictured however, I’m not sure that the amount of pounds the description says it can hold is accurate. I took it to a canal up the road from my house to test it out and it easily picked up a bunch of like small soda cans. I felt the magnet grab onto something bigger however when I tried to reel in the rope, the magnet did not hold onto the object. This even happened when I picked up what looked like an old metal coffee can, as soon as I pulled it up a little bit above the water it fell right off the magnet and back into the canal. Overall I would say it’s a good magnet fishing kit if your trying to fish for something small but if you want a magnet that can actually hold a lot of weight then this isn’t the product for you. The hook attachment is also a good tool for picking up small items. I would give it a 7/10. ... show more

  • Magnet is Strong
Size: 2.36" 760LBS Style: Double Hole Kit
The main purpose for buying this magnet fishing kit is because of its many uses. It has strong pulling power, so if something like the chain drops off into our well, it can be easily retrieved and reattached to its pulley. I also want to go magnet fishing in a creek and have a little fun with it trying something new after watching several videos of those who do this. It has some practical uses as well like pulling a metal piece that fell inside the floor vent and draws it out. Picking up a hand tool that fell when one is high up and can retrieve the tool w/o climbing down a ladder. I have found multiple uses besides having a fun activity near water. ... show more
