I didn't like the pilling(snagging?) that occurred on the smooth side when I wore the thermals inside out to have the soft side to my skin. Over one night I had a significant # of snags/ pills all over where the thermals were in contact with the bed. They were warmer than leggings, so I coudn't complain. They were a little "looser" than I expected, but would still classify as size small. I had bought in size Med for a friend, and gave them to her - no complaints from her. If the pilling is an issue, Don't buy. Comfy for the price! I washed them once, they seemed to stay the same. Definitely thick enough where I feel comfortable sitting on the porch, petting the cats and dogs when I wake up, without feeling the need to cover up.

These are really comfortable! During later Spring skiing in Utah, these were warm as the only layer under bibs and a shell; when I added another layer it was too warm.
