Overall easy to put together if your handy. It's metal and cheap price so don't expect high end. Once assembled pretty sturdy. Recommend thick mattress not thin. Came packaged well, with instructions and basic assembly tools.

Let me start by saying this is easy to put together despite being a bit time consuming and requiring two people to finish. The most difficult parts for me were getting the ball toppers on the corners to go in and keeping my arms up long enough to attach all the upper bits together. Needless to say, my shoulders hated me the next day, and I have a new appreciation for silicone covered hammer handles. It's stable, gorgeous, and has put up with my air mattress and my nearly 200 lbs. flesh sack since I bought it. It's a fabulous gold that is closer to an antiqued look than some garish yellow disguised as gold. It's not glittery; it is shiny. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a bit of romantic elegance in a bed. Just make sure you have a helper and a good 1-2 hours to dedicate to putting this baby together. The bed is beautiful but when I opened the box, the product seemed like it was used and put back in the box. Pieces were out of their plastic bags, the instructions were ripped and missing a page, and the screws were unorganized. Once the bed was put together, it was what I wanted. I purchased this bed frame two years ago. Most of it has held up really well and made it through a rough move across the country. The top ball pieces unfortunately broke after a short time, however. I figured it was a lost cause and didn’t really affect functionality at all. I decided to take off the canopy portion after our move because our new ceilings are short. Then I realized I’d probably need the balls this time.
