The laser itself is really nice. Faster than my other one. Still trying to figure out the software. As with everything that's new, it'll take time. Lightburn just doesn't want to work with it though so that's a bummer. Still trying to figure that issue out. It's a nice product. Worth the money??? That's still up in the air until I can figure things out.

Laser engraving functionally is good, but there are some basic quality of life things that need work. One thing I really like about the Lumos is the amount of space you have within the work area. This allows you to close the protective shield even with slightly larger items. Something that can't be said for its direct competition. Another thing I love is how easy they've made it to do color engravings on stainless steel. The process walks you through it and gives consistent results. Again, something I wish Wecreat's competition would consider. UI/UX is where this engraver and WeCreat come up short. The MakeIt! Studio software is laid out strangely, doesn't seem to use industry standard terminology, and it's not always clear why things aren't working or are disabled. For example, "color" engraving is only amables provided you're on "Red Light" (IR) which is fined but blue diode lasers are capable of color engraving as well. Another issue I faced was that the AF button doesn't work on mine. It's not a big deal as the jog dial for focus/height adjustment is great and makes things easy enough. Because of this, I think WC could have opted to omit the AF button altogether and saved a bit of cost. Other things I'm not fond of is that the unit never goes to sleep. There is no built-in sleep mode. The system fans spin up fairly loudly when it's just sitting idle. And every time you manually turn it off, you have to reset reconfigure the WiFi connection over USB. It's interesting because my network shows the laser's MAC address associated all previous IP addresses but I still have to reconfigure the WiFi. It's an even worse experience with the mobile app. The price is honestly super competitive to competitor offerings, but with the lower price, you're going to face convenience and quality of life issues. What that's worth to you is your call, but for me I ultimately decided this laser isn't going to work for what I expect out of a machine like this. The Lumos has so much potential; the less than optimal software and firmware make this a no-go for me.
