  • This does work. I feel better knowing it is there if I need it.
Style: 1st Generation
This actually gets bumped up to 5 stars because of the customer service. I had originally bought the car version with the magnetic antenna. This one was bought for the house up until I purchased my Jeep Wrangler. Then not knowing where to stick my magnetic antenna on my Jeep. I decided that the trucker antenna would work great using the aftermarket spare tire antenna bracket. The the products 4 and a half stars would be where the cables mount to the transmitter/receiver. Somewhere a long the line one connection broke internally.(I don't remember which, been awhile,I actually thought I already reviewed this one, maybe it was the first one)seems the connector could use a better support. Anyway, I do remember how helpful customer service was and the quick easy exchange for another. I have used one of these in the car, Jeep, and house. They have performed excellent. Yes, as stated, you do need some signal to begin with. I did test it in several places with weak signals. One of note for me was where I hit a deer in the middle of winter that sent me off the road a few years back, stuck in a ditch. Had a very bad signal to the point the call finally cut off completely. Well, after installing this; I went back to the same spot. Still had very little reception. Turned the booster on, went from 1 to 3 bars. When I made a call it was nice and clear. Turned the booster off and the reception was so bad the call was almost lost. ... show more

  • LOVE this product!!!
Style: 1st Generation
After reading the (mostly) poor reviews I decided to write one of my own. Idk what the people who have had no luck with this product are doing wrong. I purchased this product because I was driving from Corpus Christi to Odessa and had T-Mobile and for five hours on I-10 I wouldn’t be able to use my phone at all which made me nervous. So, after seeing this all on vehicles in west Texas everywhere I decided to try it. I LOVE this product. On my drive back to corpus I had reception the entire time! I now have AT&T mobile service and product works great but my coverage with AT&T is far superior to T-Mobile. The other things I like about this product is it’s a one time purchase. You don’t need to pay a monthly fee or link a device, which means I can use it on my truck or my husbands truck or our boat or our RV. Boosts our signal out on the water when we wouldn’t normally have one and down the beach where typically you also don’t have service. I brag about this to everyone! I can’t say enough good things. As for the people who wrote bad reviews all I can say is you’re either not understanding how to properly install product or using it properly. One person commented that even tho you don’t see more bars on your phone doesn’t mean your signal isn’t boosted, this is true. If you have a green light on the device and it’s plugged into power it’s working. ... show more

  • It works - it's not a miracle, but it works
Style: 1st Generation
Compared to my previous weBoost, this one is great. Pro's: It works. Comes with two antenna extensions, spring base, lots of other optional mounting hardware. In the pictures shown, I went to an area that had barely any signal and ran speed test on my phone. 0.99mbps download and 0.00mbps upload. Definitely sucking for signal and coverage. I turned on the weBoost, my phone bars increased and I ran the test again. 4.38mbps download and 2.00mbps upload. I was then able to make a VOIP call and stream music. I'll call that success. Then I tried it with a commercial hotspot and the speeds dropped. So it's best to use weBoost without a hotspot. Con's: Does not perform as well as I expected, but it works. My expectations were a little high. Inside antenna placement is important. Manual suggests 18-36" from the phone - I found it works better when the inside antenna and the outside antenna are not in line-of-site and they are separated by metal structures like engine firewalls or roofs. The thread-lock is superglue. Really? You might want to really evaluate where you use superglue and thread-lock and not blindly follow their instructions. ... show more

  • expensive, but worked when I needed it (and you DO want the big antenna!)
Style: 1st Generation
Surprise! It works! I returned the competitive SureCall product after encountering ignorant support staff and flaky performance in the field. 1. "No Service" performance: THIS one actually does BETTER than advertised. Twice on one trip (Teton Canyon near Driggs ID and BLM land near Mesa Verde in CO) my Galaxy S9 showed no signal at all. Nada. Zero. No bars, no G, no nothing. I plugged this thing in, clipped the antenna to the roof mount I rigged on the factory rail of my Sprinter, set my phone on the internal antenna, and got 4G email and web access. They say it won't work where there is no signal, but in my personal experience the signal can be so weak the cell phone won't even make a call or register a carrier and STILL you can get online. 2. "Weak Signal" performance: With a weak signal (-115db on the Android settings menu) my S9 can still get speed test results of a couple MB. Using the OTR antenna I often got 10X faster speeds and 20-30db stronger signals. Upload and download speed improvements are NOT consistent, which I'm thinking might be due to which frequencies a certain cell tower uses. With a moderately good signal (10MB down, 2MB up without the antenna) the normally far slower UPload speeds often matched or exceeded the normally faster DOWNload speeds. Once, near Vernal UT, I saw 30MB download speed from my phone with the antenna whereas I only got 12MB without it. SureCall never improved usable signals. This one does. Score! 3. External Antenna: I also bought the 4" magnetic antenna (fifteen bucks here on A) and found it was far inferior to the big OTR antenna. Better than nothing, but half again as much speed improvement with the bigger antenna,. In the "no signal" case the small one was not enough to get online while the larger one gave me DSL speeds. 4. Internal Antenna: Plan on laying the phone down on the antenna. Gluing it to your seatback is a terrible idea, because orientation and distance matter A LOT. I bet a lot of the bad reviews could be fixed by understanding antennas and radiation. The cord is not centered in the end of the internal antenna. My testing says more signal comes out the side of the bar nearest the wire, and turning the bar sideways to the phone can damage download speed but might improve upload speed. That's just with my phone, you need to experiment with flipping and rotating the bar until you get the best signal. 5. Antenna separation: I have a metal roof, and found there was no need for horizontal separation between the internal and external antenna. It worked best to have the external on the passenger side of the Sprinter, and the internal antenna on the driver side. It was OK to have the external antenna directly above the internal antenna. Once when I *tried* to move them close together I got the light to flash indicating feedback, but moving the internal antenna back and forth in my 24 foot cargo van didn't seem to matter. ... show more

  • Boosts service by 2-3 bars
Style: 1st Generation
Love the weboost for my van! It boosts my signal from 1 bar to 3-4. I work remotely and am on a lot of zoom calls, so being able to turn on video and easily browse the web/other web applications is crucial. This things makes that possible - worth the ~$500! Only thing I’ll mention is that you need to basically have the small inside antenna touching your phone to get that type of boosted reception. It’s not a big deal, but it does mean there are some loose wires in the van at times. Setup was pretty easy - I just attached the weboost to my ladder. Definitely takes away from being stealth, but I suppose you could remove it if you needed too. ... show more

We live in a hole with a lot of tree cover. The leaves are not yet out, but we did see an improvement upon installing. There are a few things to note. We live in a small home 14'x32' and the internal boost to phone antenna does not cover more than about 6' from the boost. Thankfully, we have a phone that we can put onto hotspot at the antenna that will give us the wifi though the rest of the home--which is only about 12' more from where I was able to get the wire to stretch to in almost the middle of the house. Text and emails generally cover the entire home, but talk is still spotty at time even near the antenna. That being said, overall this has improved my situation. I think that if I can get the external receiver antenna higher (meaning I need more coax cable than the included 25' or so) and clear a few more trees I improve further. Also, please be aware that the FCA requires this to be registered with your provider and not all providers will allow you to register one with all of their plans. WeBoost has EXCELLENT customer service, some of the best I have ever experienced. ... show more

  • This thing WORKS!!
Style: 1st Generation
This thing just plain works. I travel out to the oil fields of West Texas fairly often and have Sprint as a carrier. After I installed this in my work truck (2018 Ford F150) there was a noticeable diffrence in my service and ability to use my phone in places where it would have otherwise been sketchy. A few things to know about installation. 1.) Get the exterior antenna as high up as you can. And keep it atleast 6 inches away from glass. I mounted mine to the top of the bed nearest the cab and used all 3 extension sticks. This put the tip about a foot above the truck. 2.) Keep it away from other antennas. The directions reccomend 12" from most other antennas. 3.) Wait to hard mount the internal antenna. Seriously, soft mount it where you think you want it and use it for a little while. You might need to try 2 or 3 diffrent places before you find the location that works best for you. 4.) Remember the effective range for the internal antenna is between 12 to 18 inches. That means if your phone is closer than 12 inches to the internal antenna than you will not recieve the full benefit of the booster. ... show more
