If you're like me, you're looking at this camera and hoping to get a less expensive version of the Meeting Owl Camera. I wound up buying this one, and eventually returned it for the Meeting Owl Pro, so I wanted to give a pros and cons for each. Pros for the Coolpo: - Plug and play setup. The Meeting Owl requires downloading an app for the initial setup, and wants to phone home over WiFi. This one is dead simple: plug in the power and USB, switch your camera to the USB camera, and you're good to go. - Excellent video quality. The picture quality on the Coolpo seems sharper than the Meeting Owl. I believe it may be using a 4K sensor internally, then cropping the subimages to the 1080 image it outputs. It claims that it can output 4K, but I certainly wasn't able to get it to do that. The camera does have a USB 3.0 micro-B port, but only a USB 2.0 cord is included. It might be that with the right cable you can get 4K, but they shouldn't get credit for that if they don't include the right cable. Cons of the Coolpo: - Face tracking is hit or miss. The camera would frequently give me shots of a bookshelf, an empty chair, or a painting hanging in the room, rather than actual people. The meeting owl seems to be much better at finding and staying on actual people. The Coolpo would sometimes produce wide, disorienting swings of the virtual cameras when it decided to look at something else. - Sound quality of the speakers is acceptable, but certainly not great. The other side of my test calls reported no trouble hearing speakers, so the microphones work well. - The included power cable is extremely short. Unless you have power in the center of your conference table, you'll need an extension cord. - There's no way to configure the video you get out. Admittedly the Meeting Owl doesn't have a lot of configuration options, but it does allow you enable or disable the panorama strip and manually steer the virtual camera if you need to. With the Coolpo, you get whatever the algorithm decides (which, as I said, was a lot of shots of bookcases and paintings). Overall the experience with the Meeting Owl Pro was far more satisfying, and that's the one we'll end up keeping. I had high hopes that the less expensive version would be just as good, but sadly it's not. ... show more

I've used this and another high profile alternative that's significant more expensive. This works just as well in my tests of a group experience. We have bought it to use with some charity related board meetings and retreats where in the current situation not everyone can attend - it makes an enormous difference in how connected remote participants feel. While there are sometimes "misfires" in terms of what gets brought into view, it's as good as any other product out there and usually (thinking about it in terms of what the AI sees) there's a reasonable explanation for why it happened (room with excessive sound reflection or some motion). To show it's an actively supported product the makers have also released a recent firmware update that helps block out areas of motion that you don't want to be considered - I think it's a testament and rare that someone looks at all the reviews/complaints and then updates a product that way. All in, we don't regret the purchase in general and we don't regret the purchase over the competing product. ... show more

Before the introduction of the CoolPo system, each attendee of the meeting needed to bring their laptop into the meeting to be seen. This required I.T. support, due to some attendees forgetting their a/c adapters, or they could not get connected to the network, the list could go on. Vision for remote working is that I would like for each of our 12 remote Production and Research sites to have a CoolPo system. This would allow for each site to join as individual teams but be in attendance as one group at our corporate office. AgReliant Genetics’ Officer Committee can conduct meetings with a single laptop and be presented to all employees. I expected the CoolPo camera to capture the meeting room attendees and provide good audio and video. CoolPo not only met my expectations, but it also absolutely exceeded them. The video quality is very good and captures attendees from as far as 15 feet away. The audio side of the CoolPo is surprisingly good. The mics pick up well, and the speakers provide a good clear sound. My only concern is when the speaker volume is turned up more than 70%, the quality does start to drop. I believe that a control panel for the speaker output would greatly improve the quality at higher levels, or even to have an external speaker port to enhance the sound. CoolPo’s ability to recognize attendees is fantastic! I currently have 2 of the high-end Logitech conference room systems, and all that have used both, prefer the CoolPo system. ... show more
