The quality on this camera is top-notch, definitely better than the Logitech 4K webcam for sure. You can add polarizing filters and other lense filters and still have plenty of light left. This camera is picky on the type of USB cable you use so make sure you use a good high-speed cable. The software is OK not the best, use OBS and you still need professional lighting for good image quality. The only negative comment about this camera is the horrific lens itself, it’s way too wide, sure you can use software to digitally zoom in and crop, but then you lose all the 4K quality. This camera would be perfect if you could change the lens with something more like 80mm and less like 20mm 😆 (think GoPro) so if you need a wide angle camera for taking in your environment and you’re not going to use a green screen, this camera would be perfect for you. If you want a tighter shot and will be using a green screen then you would be better off with a DSLR or something that you can change the lens to fit your needs. If they made a tighter lens version of this camera, that would probably make it perfect. The one nice thing about the wide angle camera is the AI subject stay on focus. It is nice that it can track with you, again you’re not gonna get the 4K quality then. The eye stability feature just doesn’t work well but it’s fun to play with, the software package it comes with is kind of a joke but for amateurs, it will do fine. If you’re looking for a professional quality production, don’t buy this, this camera is geared for beginning, novice videographers, or as a simple web cam. It would be difficult to make this work well for say professional podcasting, you’d be better off using your cell phone 😆 do not use this with any type of hub or the system will not boot, you’ll have to disconnect the USB cable after your PC is booted and then reconnect it to get it to work (every time) it’s a real pain so just connect it directly to your computer. This probably is the best economical valued camera to get into 4K recording, great starter camera. If you’re not gonna use it for 4K streaming or in low light, then it will do much better for you. ... show more

Make sure u have a a good amount of ram definitely more than 12 gb of ram with all of the processes ur gonna be running with this like ur game Spotify discord and everything else takes a good 400 mb of space at 4k

    • The Elgato Facecam 4K fails on every metric that matters in 2025. Returned. Switched to YoloCam S3.

Extremely disappointed with the Elgato Facecam 4K. For a $200 webcam, the performance is just unacceptable. The F4 aperture and 1/1.8 inch CMOS sensor makes raw footage noticeably inferior, especially low-light handling terrible—images are flooded with digital noise at high ISO, and even with noise reduction, everything looks soft and smeared. It lacks autofocus(fixed focus is not real autofocus) and obviously has no depth of field like YoloCamS3, making the video look flat and lifeless. It feels like Elgato is coasting on brand reputation without real innovation. While competitors like YoloCam are pushing boundaries with better sensors, smarter software, and real value, Elgato keeps delivering overpriced, underperforming products. Great quality, software is easy to use and set up. This camera definitely requires some additional light but my 2 Key Light Airs have been more than enough. Aside from that I have had no issues with it as long as it’s been plugged directly into a usb 3.0 port
