  • Nice Dock
Capacity: Game Dock
I'll be honest, this wasn't going to be my first choice, but given the current climate with everything being out of stock or listed for scalper prices, when I found this I pounced. I have acquired this for my WFH setup, and it has been brilliant. True thunderbolt connectivity, plenty of USB ports, dual monitor connectivity, ethernet and audio. All components were detected, and drivers installed by Windows. No issues with power delivery to my Dell notebook. The WD software only enables RGB strip control. ... show more

  • Bad Product, Worse Customer Service
Capacity: Game Dock
Originally I purchased this new and on sale and received the product all good. When opening the product it seemed as if it maybe have been a used unit prior but no factual evidence. It did not turn on at all, after trying multiple different configurations nothing worked. Talked to Amazon support and they didn’t offer much help. Talked to Western digital support and they were going to charge be to get a replacement. Went back to Amazon to get a refund, so money back and I return product, all sounded good but instead the Amazon customer service person sent me a replacement and didn’t refund me. The secound unit came so I thought I’d try it out again and returned the old and opened the new. Tried the new and this time it worked, and this time the product was packaged differently and seemed new unlike the first unit. This worked pretty well, sometimes it would over heat and cause the second monitor to not work until the unit cooled down. Now just over a month and some later, the product has died and no longer works, and I can’t get a refund or replacement. I wish Amazon would’ve just sent the refund the first time around as agreed on. Bad product, worse service, do not recommend. ... show more

  • Doesn't work
Capacity: Game Dock
Got this model at a nice discount price. However, the first one had an issue that the USB devices would stop working after a few hours. I had to reconnect the dock several times a day because of the issue. It seems to be a software issue since the screens connected to the dock would still work even after the USB has failed. I decided to give it a second try by requesting a replacement and then found out that the DisplayPort on the replacement didn't work at all. At this time Amazon refused to replace it again and offered me a discount for keeping the original product. Update: I needed to use the USB port for my keyboard so I unplugged the receiver of the Logitech G604 wireless mouse from the dock and the issue seems to have not occurred again since then. I don't know why would a wireless mouse receiver cause the dock to intermittently malfunction but I'm glad that I narrowed the issue down to the specific condition that was causing it. ... show more

  • WD support says it will not work unless it comes WITH a SSD. Do not get the one without storage.
Capacity: Game Dock
I got the no storage option and it does not work at all (except for the power pass through). I called WD support and they said they only offer the option to buy the version without a 1 or 2 TB SSD because some people want to use their own. That's fine but there is no warning that it will only work with a SSD inside. I currently do not have a NVME SSD to use and make sure this is the case, but that is what WD support told me. This would explain why so many people's product does not work if true. Can anyone else verify this? I called WD support a 2nd time. This time they said it should work without an SSD. It seemed obvious both times I called that neither person knew this product or what it was supposed to do. Thankfully, Amazon support is awesome. I am returning the product and do not even want to bother trying again. ... show more

  • Item arrived defective
Capacity: Game Dock 2TB NVMe SSD
The product came defective, it would not power up. Called Amazon tech support and they reached out to the vendor and they weren't available. The end result was a replacement product so I will try that and see what happens.

  • Outstanding device, but struggling to decide how best to use it...
Capacity: Game Dock 1TB NVMe SSD
I got this based on the idea that it did so many awesome things and with such great specs. And it does, there are no corners cut (except maybe storage size) and the performance is amazing. That said, there are some features that are neat but easily handled with cheaper options. For instance the hard drive storage is FAST, but 1 Tb is on the smaller size of things. Basically, this combines about four or five features in one box, and it is well done with high quality and fast parts. But you are paying for ALL of those features when you might not need all of them. I decided that four stars is the way to go, because as long as you need all the features, this is the Lamborghini of gaming docks, but if you would rather only buy what you need, you could save money. There is definitely a case to be made for the portability of this, as long as the computer you take it to is able to connect to it, then you should be able to carry your personal gaming files where ever you go. Ultimately, I highly recommend the WD_Black 1TB D50 Game Dock NVMe SSD Solid State Drive, RGB with Thunderbolt 3 Connectivity, Up to 3,000 MB/s - WDBA3U0010BBK-NESN as long as you think that you need all or most of the features, otherwise it might be cheaper/better just to get the individual pieces that you need. I hope that you found my review helpful. I try to rate the items that I review on Amazon based on my actual experience with them. I don't generally do a laundry list of features that are already in the description, instead I try to share my personal experience with the product in the hope that you may be using it with a similar "everyperson" point of view and not a professional, "try to make it do everything that it is supposed to do" perspective. I feel like most of us are buying products for the same basic reasons and I don't always need a review that tells me every detail of the product. I'm not a "professional reviewer," I'm just a guy who likes to share his experience with products - ESPECIALLY when I like them, but also in an effort to warn fellow amazon customers when something isn't as described or as good as advertised. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at my Amazon Profile Page or ask here on the product page and I will try to get back to you ASAP.
