Purchased this drive to replace a SanDisk Extreme SSD for the PlayStation 5. Nothing was wrong with the original drive, but this one claimed to be faster. The first thing to accept about these drives is that the number advertised on the box is a perfect scenario. It is unlikely it will ever be your number and most of these drives are only aiming for 1050MB/s on "normal" configurations. This drive gets much warmer than the SanDisk, but can be expected when trading rubberized coating for an aluminum chassis. The SanDisk Extreme Pro makes the same 2000MB/s claim, but in a far less appealing package. I was unable to compare that model to this one, but I imagine they are much closer. This could be, in part, because Western Digital is the parent company of SanDisk. As for the regular line, there is enough of an improvement that I was content with having switched drives. This drive looks a lot better next to the console. There is also one small detail that matters more to those with a vertical setup. The cables for this drive are significantly longer. The old drive required propping up on a stand or also standing it up vertically, often with a bit of fear that it would not stay in place. This drive has just enough cable to attach to the USB-C port and still lay the drive neatly on the rubber feet. Rather than an adapter to convert the cable, this one also comes with a separate USB-A cable. This allows leaving the cables attached to the PS5 and PS4 that are sharing the drive and moving only the drive itself between them. You truly appreciate this the first time you misplace an adapter. Another important consideration is price and durability. If you are looking to save a few bucks and not worry about splashing the drive, then the SanDisk drives are probably your best option. If you are using it in a controlled environment and care about the aesthetic aspects, then it is hard not to love this drive. Honestly, the drive looks like a supply drop sitting next to the console. Purchase this for my PlayStation 5, and it holds all my PS4 titles and apps for my console, freeing up precious space for my PS5 game titles. Between this connected to my external USBC port on my PS5, and the internal 2TB SSD I installed on the inside M2 slot, it will be a long time before I have to delete anything off of my PS5. The drive also runs extremally fast and smooth. Load times are a fraction of what I experience on my PS4 with a standard spindle HDD. Loving it! One drawback: the USBC micro to USBC cable that comes with the drive is a bit short, so I purchase a longer cable with a right angled USBC plug on one end so I can extend the drive to the side of my game console instead of protruding from the front. ... show more

I purchased the 2 TB version of this SSD with the intention of using it for my Playstation 5 to play Playstation 4 games. It was one of the best choices I ever made. The transfer from console memory to SSD was much faster than I am accustomed to and of course when loading games they boot fast. Seriously, this is a solid purchase. Small portable ssd and super fast performance with massive 3.68tb of storage space. If you have massive digital library of games like me. Holds my entire PS4 catalog with 1.8 free space have 103 games on it. Games runs way better than on my old PS4 Pro with ssd no more loud fan for certain games. Works great. Does allow for loading things faster than a speedy HDD. As others mention though, it was weird having to “shove” the USB-C cable harder into the SSD port, because otherwise it would refuse to be recognized by my PS4Pro.
