  • Great Purchase!
Style: 10,000-Watt Dual Fuel
We purchased the DuroMax XP10000EH Dual Fuel Portable Generator. It was easy to set up and use and easy to roll around. We set it on our back porch and ran a heavy-duty cable connection through our kitchen window using a foam pool tube (lots of online videos). This allowed us to protect the cord and close our window for security. Works great. We also got a quote to install an interlock and a main breaker on our home panel. The materials & labor were $1200. My point in telling you this is because of its adaptable qualities. We are incredibly happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • It’s a great generator

  • Not bad
Style: 10,000-Watt Dual Fuel
Unit came several days earlier than expected. Went together pretty easy. Had a bit of a problem starting on propane, (don’t plan on using gasoline) but it was me not the machine. Once I figured out the proper starting procedures it started well. I have yet to test it under a load as it was just too cold around here to do that. Once I do I can amend the rating and maybe bump it up to five stars. ... show more

  • BUYER BEWARE
Style: 10,000-Watt Dual Fuel
I used the 50A connector and as a master electrician, I was immediately taken aback at how cheaply made the provided connector was. Nonetheless, everything appeared to work initially. I have owned the generator for 14 months now, and since I live on an island and experience frequent power outages, it has been put to good use. However, within the first month, the main breaker failed and single-phased. I was in a difficult situation, so I bypassed the breaker to get me through the outage. At the one-year mark, it failed to start during the monthly exercise, even though I run it on propane and keep it on a charger. I changed the spark plug, but it still didn't work. I contacted customer service since there is a three-year warranty, and they were helpful and sent parts as needed. However, they refused to pay for labor costs, and after replacing the carburetor, disconnecting the oil sensor, and replacing the magneto and spark plug assembly, it still won't start. I don't want to pay to have this thing fixed when that money could go toward buying a better generator. I hope your experience is better, but I would advise you to keep looking if you're shopping for a generator. ... show more

  • Different Model & Just a Weird Experience
Style: 10,000-Watt Dual Fuel
This order really turned out, for lack of a better term, weird: - I ordered the DuroMax XP10000E (as pictured and described in the listing) but received a DuroStar DS10000EH. Are there differences between these two generators other than the name, model, the colors & the stickers on it? I don't think so but I'm not sure. In addition, the owner's manual in the DuroStar DS10000EH box was for the DuroMax XP10000E. - The wheel and handle kit was missing parts and the instructions provided for installing them were clearly for a different model. - The whole thing, including the manual, has a very strong petroleum smell, not terribly different from a tire fire. - I ordered the genny on December 20th - it couldn't be delivered until January 4th because the shipper "couldn't find a phone number" for me to arrange the delivery. Seriously. Seems like contact info is something Amazon would pass onto the seller, DuroMax...or is it DuroStar? - It comes without any oil in the engine, which I fully expected...but I didn't expect to come with no oil at all. (Off to the store for motor oil.) I've previously owned a Generac genny and it came with pouches of oil in the parts box. - Four electrical plugs were included, one of each type to correspond with the outlets on the genny. So, apparently, I'm supposed to build power cords myself. (That's a recipe for disaster - my plumbing skills are decent but I am NO electrician.) Calling the electrician tomorrow. - I have not yet fired it up. I hope it works. I got the generator for a good price but I think I would recommend buyers look to buy locally for something like this. I know it might be more expensive but having local support would be really nice right now. ... show more
