I liked the smoothness of the drag and the size of the arbor. The reel is attractive but trout don't care. The spool removal takes some getting used to if you have release mechanisms on other reels but not a problem. You must be aware that your thinner leader setons or tippets can slip into the spool under the reel. Not a problem but it can be annoying. This is common on reels of this design from many manufacturers. Will probably buy other Lamson products based on this one. ... show more

For the money, you get 3 spools, a storage bag for everything, & a reel that has a super easy spool change out system plus Lamson’s very effective drag system. My target species is Coho (silver salmon) & the reel held up nicely on an Alaska fishing trip this month. I had #8WFF line on 2 spools (1 as a backup) & #8WFS line on the 3rd spool. DISLIKE NOTHING, GREAT DRAG SYSTEM AND SIMPLE, DURABLE, EXCELLENT SERVICE. I HAD A REEL SEAT ISSUE AND SENT IT TO THEM WITH THE ROD, BUTT SECTION. I like the way the reel look and operated, Very easy to switch from left hand to right hand retrieve. On down side is that the retaining cap for the drag came loose while fishing once. Changing spool pieces is also very easy and works well.
