This is a great case and I'm bummed that it will not work with my Google Pixel 8 Pro. The phone physically fits inside the case perfectly. What no one is explaining clearly is that there is a mechanical piece inside the case (red arrow) that must press on the volume button of the phone. The volume button can be configured in the phone's settings to operate as a physical shutter. The phones listed in the manual (see pic) have the volume controls on the side of the phone ABOVE the power button. The Pixel has these reversed. The little piece inside the case does slide up and down but not far enough to hit the Pixel's volume button, only the power button (which is distinctly unhelpful). The Pixel's volume buttons are about where the red line is in the photo, behind the fixed piece that braces the phone securely. They provide a really nice wrist lanyard, a little plastic tool for popping open the clips on the case... it's a very nice lower cost option and the bump out for a grip feels nice in your hand. It seems pretty reasonably durable for the price and certainly perfect for snorkeling. It holds the phone quite securely. I refuse to rate the product down due to an Amazon error in the description. If you have one of the phones designed the way the case is intended to operate, give this case a try. ... show more

I have purchased over four of these cases for myself and to give as gifts. I haven’t found anything I like better and I’ve tried a lot of cases. I use this for my iPhone Pro Max. As you can see in the image it is less bulky that some others on the market. The area for the camera lens placement is glass ensuring you get a good photo. On the back is a thick plastic where you can use your fingers to navigate the phone if needed. I like that there is a shutter button. One thing to note is that if the shutter trigger does not align to the button on your phone, in the inside you can move the slider to align perfectly. I get incredible underwater photos and all the cases above purchased have never leaked. I am always being asked where I got the case and am so happy to recommend the Shellbox case. ... show more

    • The shutter button on the case doesn’t work for iPhone 12

The camera shutter button on the case doesn’t work on iPhone 12. The case has two little nubs on the inside that are supposed to depress the left and right sides of your iPhone (volume button and power button) at the same time to take a picture. Your iPhone 12 will fit in the case, but the two nubs don’t move enough to depress those two buttons at the same time (barely touches the volume button and won’t touch the power button) to take a picture. You can use the touch screen to take a picture but it’s difficult to do and wouldn’t work well with gloves on. The card itself looks well made, sturdy and is waterproof. It just won’t take pictures like it the manufacturer says it will. Update to this review: The company did reach out after I posted this review and offered me a refund. The media could not be loaded. Not a bad product for the price. I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max and my wife has a Samsung galaxy s20 something. My iPhone overheats in this case in about one hour. Not the fault of the case. With both phones it’s very difficult to see the screen when you are in the water. Is water tight and easy to use. Will not float. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. So got this case for a trip to Hawaii and was really unsure how it would work. What worked great. * Video worked really well. We used it for both snorkeling and playing in the waves. You had to start the video through the touch screen and then go underwater, but the clarity was great and my iphone took great videos of both fish and my family. *sealed really well. So well, it was challenging to get the clasps unlatched without the tool. Even with the tool, it took effort. * the lanyard connecting to your wrist was really good quality and sinched up perfectly. I felt very confident my phone wasn't going to end up on the bottom of the ocean. What didn't work. * the little mechanism that is supposed to depress the volume button to take pictures underwater, didn't work. It would work once, but then shoved the phone over so that it wasn't tight enough up against the phone to take another picture. I tried to wedge the phone in, so it wouldn't move, but it always shifted. So pretty useless for pictures under water. You could have better luck if you found a way to make the phone stay put so the plastic arm depressed the button without scooting the phone over. I almost want to give it a five star because I bought it for videos and that function worked great if you started it above the water. (The touch screen doesn't work underwater but if you hold it up out of the water for a second, it worked fine.) Scuba diving would probably not be great since you wouldn't want to surface to turn on the video. But for snorkeling it was very workable. Plus a fraction of the cost of a GoPro or other under water camera. I would definitely recommend for a vacation since we got to use our phones in the water where we usually don't have any way to document our time together. Playing in the waves is one of our favorite thing to do as a family and this was perfect for getting some videos and pictures. ... show more

Purchased this to take photos while surfing and not ruin my phone. Overall the outer shell is very strong, but cover for the screen is VERY flimsy and I struggle to see this holding up. There is quite a bit of space between where the phone mounts, and that cover so its constantly being flexed. On the Pixel 4a, the shutter button does not align, YMMV with your particular phone but it certainly won't work for the 4a. ... show more
