  • Not solid sound boards beware
Style: Ovankol
I was looking at Washburn guitars and their description sounded sketchy about the sound boards the fact that what they imply is not true it is not solid wood top which means it will not get better with age and infact will get flat sounding unlike solid wood tops. Thankyou for the heads up of other reviewers confirm what sounded off to me I will walk away from Washburn unfortunately you would like to believe in lower end guitars but you pay for what you get ... show more

  • Great service fast undamaged.
Style: Ovankol
I really love this guitar. I am a novice musician so take what I say with a grain of salt. I have been playing for around 3 years and wanted to step up to an intermediate level guitar (I call it that just because of the price)This is my second guitar. What caught my eye was the beauty of this instrument. Its well made and very comfortable to play. It has great sound and comfortable action. I researched alot of guitars, glad I purchased. There is one thing that bothers me though, after reading Washburn history it leads you to believe that this instrument is American made. Nope made in China. ... show more

  • Beware!!! Don’t buy this guitar!!!
Style: Ovankol
But on neck not level. Ran downhill toward first string. Frets not level on guitar. Ran downhill towards first string. When playing first string falls off neck. Neck bowed. Cosmetics beautiful but bad buzzing as a beginning player could not understand why my new guitar sounded so bad! Professional player in Nashville checked it out and said it wasn’t me it was the guitar! After he showed me the defects and played it and I played his it became obvious. So bummed!!! I feel as if I have been taken and I have!!! ... show more

Really nice

  • NOT solid Koa- despite what some say.
Style: Ovankol
Beware when purchasing: despite what anyone may tell you this guitar is NOT solid Koa. I highly recommend buying from a brand that has higher resale value (Epiphone, Fender, Ibanez, Guild, Martin, Taylor etc.) if you are going to spend $900. Companies like Washburn describe time woods that are laminated as Koa rather than layered Koa as higher end brands in a similar price range would describe their laminate guitars. This is to get you to think that you are getting something you are not. It is important that the specs read solid Koa, solid spruce, solid mahogany, etc if you truly want solid wood. There are a lot more offerings with solid tops for this price and even lower. That said- it is a nice sounding guitar, but the sound will not become richer over time as it is definitely a laminate and NOT solid Koa. If you really like this guitar- go for it, you it plays well and sounds good especially when plugged in. There is just a lot of baggage that comes along with it that is not fun to deal with if you ever try to sell. ... show more

  • Enjoy playing this guitar
Style: Ovankol
On a shelf of guitars this one is a visual standout. The guitar is beautiful, The grain and color of the wood is visually striking, few guitars are this beautiful. I Love the sound especially the bass resonates wonderfully. The built in tuner is a plus. Yes it doesn't sound as good as a Gibson Hummingbird yet at under a thousand dollars it creates wonderful tones and is a pleasure to play. Chet atkins when asked about a guitar he was playing set it down and stated how does it sound now? The wisdom here is that many guitars are no better or worse than the musician playing them. In the hands of A Chet Atkins this guitar would sing. ... show more
