    • Expensive but the Real Deal
Ok, you can go to Hazard Fraught and buy a big winch for $390 with a coupon but will it last? How long to get it hot and you let the smoke out of the motor or relays? Can you get parts? (BWAHAHAHA!) What happens if it goes under water doing some fording? I've had the chinese winches, from small ATV types to big truck types and eventually they all let me down when I least needed failure of a tool. Either from hard use or not enough use, they failed. Instead, save up your money or lean on your significant other and buy a real winch made to last with parts and support, life is too short to be standing knee-deep in mud with a dead chinese winch... ... show more

We bought a Jeep about 6 months ago... we started doing some exploring on our own. We have since joined some Jeep clubs, and all required winches. We researched a ton, and found that Warn are simply the best out there! We bought it and installed it ourselves! Looks GREAT on our Jeep! We haven't had to use it yet, but we rest assured that when we do, we're all set! *(As newbies... it did take about 6 hours to install...) ... show more

It was a tight fit in the Jeep JL stock steel bumper, but it's on. Looks to be well built.

    • USA made and amazing feel to it.
This thing feels like it should cost what it did. It's way, way ahead of the China junk plus the rope will actually hold the weight of the winch and truck its mounted to. Ive seen the Chinese rope break more than once and would NEVER trust that stuff, which is basically nylon from what Im told. This is real Dyneema and the casing feels tough as nails too. Used it only once so far but it was a brute pulling a massive oak out of the way! ... show more

Zeon 12-s, been on two vehicles over the past 3 years. I mount the control box in the engine bay to keep it out of a harsh environment. Used for many recoveries. Only complaint is the very short battery life of the remote batteries.

Had my work truck set up in SLO and shipped to GA in August of 22. In early December I went to use it for the first time, luckily not for an emergency. I hit the button on the controller and it went "Click" and nothing else. Opened up the bus cover and verified I had voltage. Operated the controller and the voltage changed polarity across the sets of bussing. I contacted warn CS and explained what had happened. He told me he was going to send me a document via email that had a test he needed to be done. Then they could go from there. It took1-2 days to get that email.... An email. I finally got time to perform the test, finding out that the motor would turn in one direction but turned into an arc welder when the jumper was reversed. Now we get to see how long it takes them to respond to my confirmation that their product is defective, and how much I have to pay to ship it back. For just under $2K, when others in the same spec are under $1K, it should work 100% out of the box. Especially since this is normally going to be used in an emergency or self rescue situation. EDIT: I called Warn tech support and told the tech what had happened. He said he would send me a test document to run through and email him back with the results. It took a day or two for that email to arrive... An email... But several more weeks before I was able to do the test because it kept raining. I finally did the tests, which involved putting a jumper across the contacts in different configurations and powering the unit. The end result was that the motor was shorted going in one direction. I sent this via email to the tech and he sent me a new motor. It took a few more weeks of bad weather before I could swap it out, but once that was done the winch worked like it should have when I received it. Added a star for making it right, but for this price it should have come right to begin with ... show more
