  • Keeps chickens in
Size: 19ft
The media could not be loaded. I will like this chicken run but not until I'm done fortifying it. The zip ties are a joke. I recommend buying wire and securing the chicken wire to the metal posts with wire and skipping the zip ties. I also recommend cutting the chicken wire longer than needed so it lays flat on the ground after covering the run. This will stop predators from squeezing between the chicken wire and the metal poles. So far we've had 1 of our dogs break into the run and raccoons break in at night time. Our run is placed inside of our chain link fenced yard and We've had the run up for 2 weeks now. If we would have made the chicken wire longer than needed so it layed on the ground we'd have less problems with the raccoons. We didn't know there was enough extra chicken wire to do this in the beginning. All in all I'm happy we bought these. We were loosing a ton of chickens to hawks every year and the chicken poop from free ranging was everywhere. We bought 2 runs and cut a hole between them then secured them together with 2x2s. We moved the coop to the corner and fenced around the bottom of the coop then added openings under the coop into each run and secured those with 2x2s too. It gives our 17 chickens plenty of room and I plan on hatching more chickens. There should be plenty of room. We will also add another large coop to the other side of the run this year. It took us 1 week or about 30 hours to put together and move everything where we wanted it. In my opinion this run will not protect against large predators or determined dogs. ... show more

  • Good at keeping chickens in, terrible at keeping anything out!
Size: 19ft
This is a good start to a chicken run if that is what you are looking for, it is though, just a start. You see the chicken wire is comes with attaches with zip ties and it breaks away from those zip ties with very little pressure. I knew this when I purchased it though as we have had experience with chickens years ago, it takes solid wire, very secure, to keep predators out. After putting this cage together we put our chicks and bunnies inside for a bit of fresh air and so they could enjoy some grass and sun. We then went to working digging a ditch around the cage so we can bury some stronger wire fencing (as everything wants to dig under coops and runs to eat chickens!) and we dared to have our yellow lab out running in the yard as well. Inside the house the dog doesn't pay much attention to these little animals, outside though.... he went nuts watching them move quickly in the cage. He just flat out jumped into the side of it twice, and twice it broke the thin wire mesh on this cage, it snapped off right where the zip ties were. Thankfully no animals were harmed. This makes me glad we spent the extra money and are putting in the work to add stronger wire to this cage. In anycase, I hope no one is planning on getting just this cage to protect their flock, it will not last long! Plan to get more wire for all of it! ... show more

  • Not the worst...not the best. Don't expect a chicken version of Fort Knox.
Size: 19ft
I bought this about a week and a half ago and got the structure put together with relative ease. Directions are relatively easy to decipher and all of the parts come labelled with stickers to easily locate. Initially, the structure is very wobbly and flimsy prior to putting on the chicken wire, but after the chicken wire is TIGHTLY pulled and zip tied into place it makes the structure tighter and not nearly as wobbly. I had to purchase an extra bag of zip ties. Need ALOT of zip ties to adequately secure the chicken wire. Also, the gate latch they provide for the gate is absolutely atrocious so I went to the hardware store and picked up a slide bolt latch which seems to be doing the trick. Also, plan on creating a outer barrier because the structure is surprisingly light and any predator can easily dig underneath and lift up the portion of structure they're digging under. I had a bunch of old logs on my property that I ripped with a chainsaw down the center of each log and lined the whole exterior base of the structure with the logs. The anchors they provide to drive into each corner leg won't hold the structure down. Overall, not terrible and so far, it's kept the chickens safe and they seem to be content(hopefully I didn't just jinx it there). There's way better self built wooden chicken housings out there but I'm terrible at carpentry so this was a viable option for me. Like I said in the title, don't expect a Fort Knox out of this unit. ... show more

  • To make safe and mobile must be creative
Size: 19ft
Buy 8 swivel wheels per coop drill holes then attach them with bolts and nuts to the bottom of coop then add fence pickets to fill the gaps w/nuts and bolts and must reinforce all sides with rebar (i used thicker rebar on both ends and thinner rebar for the longer sides so not adding too much weight) by overlapping them and wire tieing them to bottom poles; now you can pull this thing around easily from the re-bared bottoms. Must add hardware cloth to bottom half of coop and at least a foot extended out on ground (i laid pickets on top of fabric and heavy duty concrete blocks on top of those) and added hardware cloth around door below and above to keep birds safe from snakes and other predators. The fabric this comes with is not secure enough and huge snakes fit through the holes easily. Its a good coop though if you make it safer. ... show more

  • Hmmm good product
Size: 19ft
Great price, questionable construction of parts. Not all snap pen holes in correct place. Hardwear cloth not the width of panels( so had to be pieced). Overall nice pen, just not the quality i was expecting.

  • Assembly is a multi-day project
Size: 19ft
Let me begin by saying that I like the finished product. I think it will keep our ducks safe from predators, but we had to make a lot of modifications. The gaps around the door were a problem we had to contend with. It would not have been safe to have such large spaces along the bottom and sides of the door. We also used wire to line and then zip tied all around the enclosure bottom because of gaps. We followed that up with bricks along the bottom edges. All the wire has to be measured and cut. This was tedious and you will need extra hands to get it into place. It was a great deal of cutting and piecing things together. We wound up buying extra wire (coated) and that helped. I would also recommend buying extra zip ties so you do not have gaps in the wire. ... show more
