These earmuffs are worth every penny and then some. You can actively hold a conversation with someone or listen to music while shooting and hear every sound clear as a bell. Gunshots sound like little pops and you can still hear someone talking while firing. I've tried it with my .22, .308 and a 12 gauge and they work great with all three. It takes some getting used to at first since it is essentially recording and playing back all the sounds with the higher decibel sounds eliminated so I found myself speaking too loudly but these are so much better than earplugs or simple earmuffs that block out all sound. You can even wear them while hunting and still hear the rustle of squirrels and deer in the woods. Highly recommend. ... show more

These are great for shooting. The fact that they amplify sound but instantly cut out any loud noise such as a gun blast makes them perfect for the gun range. Being able to actually hear others talking is a major safety advantage. All my shooting buddies have these too. When we go to the range we can talk in a normal voice while shooting from different stands and hear each other with ease. We can even hear other shooters from several benches down talking to each other. They are very comfortable to wear. If using a rifle they don't hit the stock like some ear protection does. They are kind of odd at first and getting used to the super hearing takes a few minutes every time. If the volume is at max you can hear your self breathing, the slightest ruffle of your pants, opening a bottle of water sounds like it was produced by George Lucas sound, a door knob sounds like a bank valut in the movies, everything sounds like a foley artist is running around behind you. The only downside to them is you loose directional awareness. Meaning that if you had your eyes closed and someone walked around you in a circle talking you wouldn't be able to tell where they are because the sound is equal from both speakers no matter which microphone picks up the outside sound. With cheap ear plugs you still can determine direction. It would be nice if they could add in directional surround sound like some pc headphones have. But I would imagine that would raise the cost significantly. With them being non directional I couldn't recommend them for hunters. But for a range visit I do recommend. Pros. Works like it should. These block most of the noise of a firearm to not be dangerous to your hearing and I have some big loud ones. I like that they also have microphones on both sides to still hear environmental sounds, critters moving about or a partner's voice and still be able to tell where they are coming from. I wish they were a bit thinner as they protrude enough out the side he head to get in the way of a cheek weld on the stock of a rifle unless you torque your neck around to still be able to see through a low mounted optic on a hunting rifle. I bought these on a black Friday sale so I got a very good deal on these. They adjust to fit my huge head and are very comfortable to wear for 2-3 hours at a time. Pistol, shotgun and rifle rounds pose no issues in terms of volume. The microphones pick up the faintest noises like scribbling on a piece of paper and aren't affected by high wind. Would be perfect for hunting. Shooting outdoors I had no discomfort in terms of loudness. They fold up to a more compact size for storage. You can also adjust the volume of the microphones, so it is suited to your comfort. Make sure to turn them off by turning the volume knob untill you hear a click sound.
