  • Nice book!
Very nice book with lots of pictures of VWs from all eras. Got it for a Christmas present for my spouse. I can't wait for him to see it!

  • Great picture history on VW van/bus/transporter conversions to camper.
I recently reviewed a book called "How to convert your VW Bus or Van to Camper". That book is garbage and completely devoid of information to help you actually do this. THIS book however is a wealth of knowledge. It shows many different layouts from back in the very beginning to the end, all different sorts of conversions too. In my opinion it's more information for someone who would be trying to figure out how to convert their own van than the one supposedly written for that. This is basically a picture history with good documentation on the campers available in Europe and the USA which were based on the Volkswagen Bus/Transporter. The author is very knowledgeable, the pictures are all documented with good information, and it's a beautiful book. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the subject. I bought this probably a year ago or so and still pick it up and thumb through it from time to time, it's a nice book to have around. ... show more

  • Perfect for someone restoring a bus
I bought this as a present for my boyfriend, who is planning on buying and restoring a early 1970s VW bus soon. He absolutely loved this book. It has a wealth of information - and lots of great photos - about the interior of every type of bus made. This type of information is difficult to find (most information available is about the engine, body, etc). It has information about the interiors of both stock and custom buses, which is a great source of creative inspiration since he is planning to customize his own bus. I also bought his this die cast model of a bus as part of the gift set: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001JIGSEO/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_img I would definitely recommend getting both the book and the model for any VW bus fan, or anyone who is thinking about customizing their own bus. ... show more

Have a 73 VW Westfalia and bought this book for inspirations. Great pics and ideas, plus you'll love looking at all the buses!

  • Great!
Great book about history and type of bus. I love it and I just leave it on my living room so that I can grab it and read anytime.

  • Definitve guide to the VW Camper!
Save up for a bus. My new retirement plan is to tour around the country in a VW bus, living life and enjoying nature. This would seem to be a definitive guide to all things VW Camper - models and different Camper conversion companies, the people behind it all, just fascinating (if you are a Bulli lover)! I learned a ton, just looking at the pictures, then went back to read the text, then back at the photos... I now dream of owing my bus every night! ... show more

  • Enjoyable, if a bit repetitive
This is a nice book with tons of information, plenty of photos, written largely for a British and European market. Westfalia for some reason couldn't keep up with demand, and due to import taxes on finished RVs in many countries . . . well, most people have no idea of the very many companies around the world that imported basic buses and did conversions. A few US converters, and some from Australia and S. Africa even. But Winnebago for instance somehow is not covered at all who did the well-known factory Eurovan conversions for the US. Can only read about the "California" models - never available in California or the US at all, poor us! I do have some criticisms. Many of the photos are so small you just can't really see the detail. Understand that this is basically an exhaustive catalog of the many small long-gone conversion companies. The major famous converter of course was Westfalia and there are about 20 pages devoted to them at the end. Though my 2001 Eurovan Weekender Westfalia is not even mentioned, there are some similar models. For those not interested in the catalog approach I'm afraid this will get kind of old and boring listing all these obscure companies and models so similar to each other, yet individually quite rare that there may now be only a couple if any left extant. Still, fascinating look especially at the early era campers that were so popular. ... show more
