  • Are you Impatient? Easily Frustrated? If so, this probably isn't the product for you...
I bought a big roll of this to cover a window seat in a kids room that he somehow manages to continually destroy (drywall crumbles in huge section down to metal). I ordered the black ash, it's really nice looking. I was raring to go. I received the first roll, packaged beautifully. I watched the video of how to apply - twice. I measured, I cut. On my first attempt, I tried to apply one large section from under the window to 3" down the front of the window seat for a seamless look. I ended up with 2/3 of it in a huge ball - all stuck to itself, and since the window was opened - my neighbors learned what a nutcase I am. However, the section under the window turned out great, sure - there are a few creases I can't get out - but hey, it's a kid's room. Not one to be defeated, I ordered the 2nd roll. See the pic- the packaging was cut wide open and squished to all heck. Took the roll out- it was bent and there were creases, dents and markings on the product (see 2nd pic). But, being impatient and wanting to get this little nightmare project done, I decided to work with it. Turns out the damage from shipping abuse doesn't show up too much. Because I'm pig headed, I took another shot at it alone. And being the stubborn idiot I am, I went for the "one fail swoop" technique again (this time from the bottom back edge of the window seat to the front overhang). After about 45 minutes, I got it "good enough" and BONUS - my kid learned some fancy new words! Since I had extra, I cut 1'X2' sections to cover up the sides. I thought that part would be easy - ha - did I say I'm obstinate? Those little pieces should have been easy, but somehow I ended up with tears, creases and gaps - so I took little strips and just started filling in where needed. That was the most enjoyable part of this project, 'cuz at this point, I just didn't give a hoot anymore. And, really, I think it looks great from a distance, and "ok enough" up close. All the while I was working on this, I'm saying "no way I'm buying this $#%^ again", and "might as well trash the $#%^*+& scraps" - cuz it frustrates me to no end. An hour after I finished, I found two small pieces of furniture I can cover with the larger scraps, and I'm thinking of getting another roll to cover my patio table - so, see, there you go - it's frustrating, but it does look cool. Will it hold up against my demolition demon? We'll see, it's not exactly thick... but if it doesn't, I'll be sure to add an update, because nobody should have to go through that kind of application "shell-minus-the-s", for nothing... The main lessons: 1. Don't attempt large jobs without an extra person or two. Seriously. 2. Have a glass of wine, or a beer first, or both - get relaxed (after cutting to size of course - safety first!). 3. Don't cut with scissors, they gum up - use a very sharp Exacto knife, hold at a slight angle to easily slice through, cuz it tears easily. 4. With the black ash color, I'd worry less about a seamless look and tackle a large project in little pieces, like 1'x1'. Patching almost disappears. Not sure if that would work on lighter colors though. But I have at least 7 patches in the pictures and I can't see 'em. Of course, could be the wine. 4 stars instead of 5 because they make it look super easy in the video - notice there is no video of them tackling a large project???? UPDATE: June 8 2019 - First little tiny hole on the edge has appeared (not as sturdy as I hoped) and the material keeps releasing in the corners EVEN though there are 3 separate pieces butting up together on each - I expect that area to rip soon - stuck a scrap piece over the front edge to try to reinforce it. Blends right in pretty nice and I still like it the way it looks. ... show more

  • Ebony wood does look pretty good on my 2017 Camry SE
Arrived with a little bit of damage; can be fix easily with a heat gun when you apply it. And it looks and feels pretty nice on my 2017 Camry SE when I touch it.Need to reapply it in the future though because the wood pattern for the passenger side is not straight enough.

  • Beware of color variations, otherwise good
Size: 1ft x 48" Color: Knotty Maple
I bought two rolls of the maple burl paper to cover the frame of a freestanding mirror. I am really happy with the coloration and thickness of the first roll, but the second roll (ordered a few days after the first roll) that is on the bottom of the second photo is quite a bit different in pattern and color from the first roll. I’m glad that I was able to piece together enough from the first roll so I didn’t need the second one, but i was cutting it veryyyy close. I am really pleased with the stick, thickness, and workability of the product. The roll was fairly smooshed when I got it, leaving rolls of bubbles all over the place. I used a wallpaper smoother on a flat surface to carefully push out all the air so I could get accurate measurements of the material since I needed every scrap of it. I did the mirror with several different pieces and there are seams all over it, but you can’t even tell unless you’re like an inch away from it. Overall I’m pleased with how my project turned out, but be careful of the color and pattern variations. ... show more

  • WoW....great looking product. High hopes.
Size: 1ft x 48" Color: Knotty Rosewood
I've just gotten into VINYLS. I've used about 6 different colored vinyls and they all work as described. Thought this vinyl, it looks great but somethings different. Wether its the thickness or what, the flexibility doesn't work well. I used two rolls to cover a cap that's 3" in diameter. Ive used heat gun, and a hair dryer. Nothing worked. I went to piecing it in. I'll make something outa it, but toughest job I've ever ran across. ... show more

  • Looks nice.
Size: 1.5ft x 48" Color: Mahogany
Was good looking and seemed like it would work well. The price I was sent had the grain running as long the short dimension of the roll and not the long like is looked in the photos I needed to use it for a project that needed the grain along the rolls length. They were happy to let me return it with no issues. ... show more

  • Looks Great, But Adhesive Isn't Good
Size: 1ft x 48" Color: Mahogany
This vinyl looks great. Pretty much just as described on the page. My issue is with the adhesive. I used this to wrap the edges of my computer monitors. It looked really awesome when I finished, but I was disappointed the following morning when I discovered that most of what I had done had come loose. I made sure that everything was clean and applied a lot of pressure during the install. I think if you are using this to cover a large flat surface it would be fine, but anything that has bends and folds could be an issue, as with my situation. It seems like the adhesive isn't quite strong enough for the thickness of the wrap. Depending on the use, this could be a good option, but if you are planning to contour, I would keep looking for something else. ... show more
