I’ve owned a VTech telephone for 15 years and it still works. My “new” used VTech 113-4 from Amazon Warehouse was received complete and in very good condition. The features I wanted work as advertised, except for the telephone directory and ringtone. I had difficulty entering telephone contacts into the phone directory. After entering almost 25 contacts with the handset, all entries were erased from my list. That happened several times. Eventually, I discovered that Handset #2 was initially charged on the base unit, instead of Handset #1. I switched handsets, and disconnected both power sources for one minute to reset the unit. Then I entered part of my contacts with the base. After waiting an hour, I entered more contacts with the handset. It worked. There were no written instructions for this anomaly, nor did VTech Customer Service respond to my request for technical help. Now I wonder about VTech support. The ringtone will occasionally continue one long ring after answering an incoming call. It's a nuisance, but tolerable. I may try a different ringtone. Also, the announcement of an incoming call is not as loud as I need. ... show more

We had a Panasonic set for over 5 years. We opted for this V-Tech based on the ad copy and reviews. I was optimistic but ultimately very disappointed. Long range? No different than the 5 year old set. Voice quality? Very "tinny", not clear at all. Instructions for use? Confusing at best, don't expect to get comfortable with the operation of this system for quite a while. Options? Well they are all there like the other brands, but try to find and use them? Not so much. The menu system is NOT user friendly at all. Our 'old' Panasonic set was so much easier to use, with much less 'button pushing' and multiple selections being needed, to operate any of the available options. In short, a poor choice for an improvement over our old system. I am returning the phones and opting for another Panasonic system, hoping their 'new and improved' sets are as good as the old one was. I purchased this phone system because it works with a cell phones too. It is easy to use and the sound quality is very good. It is easy to make the phones use my cell phone for making and receiving calls. I live in an area where they charge outrageous prices for a land line, but with these phones I don't need a land line, I can receive and make calls from these phones using my cell phone with no problems at all. ... show more

Very convenient to have phones in all the important rooms in your home. I still use a home line, even though I do have a cell phone. No lost or undercharged cell phones.
