Let me begin this review by saying my five year old son absolutely LOVES this watch. The day he got it, he literally played on it for the entirety of a 4 hour long trip, hardly ever looking up from it. After seeing how it works and seeing the features it offers, here’s my list of pros and cons for the watch. Pros: - Obviously the first pro is that the watch helps my son practice telling time. He can read what he thinks the current time is, then shake the watch to see if he was correct (the watch will say the current time when you shake it). - The watch includes a dual camera system that allows users to take photos and videos, and you can even add effects to them. My son loves taking pictures so this is a wonderful feature to have included for him. - There’s several mind-engaging games and activity challenges for your child to play with. For example, one game that my son loved playing was a reaction game where it would give you simple commands that you’d have to do, which in turn kept him moving almost to the point you could call it exercise. Other games included a math game where you could select two numbers, then select an operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and then click an equal sign to see the solution to the math problem you just created. This has already allowed him to begin practicing his math skills and test his ability to solve the problems before hitting the equal sign to check his answer. - There’s also an option to set up daily routines. While I don’t think a kid needs to have their entire day planned out, I do believe that this feature is beneficial in establishing their understanding of AM/PM and general knowledge of the phases of a day. My son has already asked me about what AM and PM means, and what times he would typically be doing specific activities, such as waking up, going to bed, feeding the cat, etc. so he can set up reminders for those in his watch. - The screen is pretty high-resolution for a product of this type. Still not super high end, but it’s better than I anticipated honestly. - Everything on the watch runs really smooth as well. Not much lag, apps open quick, and the screen is very responsive to touch. - The wrist strap is adjustable to fit a variety of wrist sizes. My son is pretty scrawny, so he had to tighten it up quite a ways but it works great and doesn’t slip too bad and isn’t in danger of falling off. - The watch is rechargeable, so no need to worry about batteries. - Ability to download more games from the Learning Lodge. The Learning Lodge is more or less a collection of existing Android Apps that have been selected by VTech experts to be age-appropriate and educational. - Watch construction feels very durable. It should be able to withstand some normal bumps and strikes without losing its functionality. Cons: - The watch still utilizes micro-USB charging. Would have been nice to see USB-C. - Storage on the watch is very limited, with only a 256MB capacity. Overall I love seeing how much fun my son is having with the watch. I also really like that the content on the watch is educational and keeps his mind engaged. I’ve been highly impressed with the watch so far, and the pros far outweigh the cons on this item. I’ll give it 5/5 stars and highly recommend to others with children. ... show more

This is such a great watch. I never used or bought any of the previous versions of this watch before for the DX4 was my first impression. There is so much to do and play with with this watch not even including all the extras you can download from your PC. Which we did and it was so simple and easy to do! There's lot of actives including drawing, games, calculator, different themed flashlights and much much more! My 4 year old loves his watch! I would say the only "complaint" would be that there are lots of games on this but they are all in different "folders" instead of all in one folder. Even the games I downloaded are in a completely separate location on the watch the kid has to remember where to navigate to and find. The battery life is crazy. We charged it (not even fully) 8 days ago and it still has battery left as if it's fully charged still! Some cool features are the music portions as well as a music maker portion. The kids pick two quirky genres and it makes custom songs. Drawing where the kids can draw pictures directly on the watch. A puzzle game where the kids can take premade puzzles or even use their own pictures they take and can make them puzzles in the type and amount of pieces they want to do. The custom watch faces are cool. My personal favorite is the driving car and when you move the watch the car actually switches lanes. nice touch. The piano app is cool and you can even play piano to the sound of cats! And lastly is the monster catcher allowing your children to get up and move around to catch different monsters. There's tons more I haven't mentioned. It's well worth the price and it's tons of fun to last awhile. Also can connect to other watches if you have any. ... show more

My son who just turned four recently, has been playing with tech products ever since he was one. I am in the tech industry and have been trying to teach him since he was basically born as I want him to learn as much as possible so when he is older he can be on the forefront of whatever technology throws at him. He currently has a smart watch that he has been using for the past two years, but feel he out grew it, so when I saw newer VTech watch pop up in my feed, I knew this was going to make the perfect gift for him. The smart watch itself is pretty cool and has a lot of functions for him to learn. First off, it has two cameras installed on this watch with a number of different activities and games that he can play. Secondly, there are a ton of watch faces for him to choose from which really help him get the hang of telling time which is something I have been trying to teach him over the past couple of months now. So this watch couldn't have come at more of a perfect time as we move into the next step of learning tech. It is also splash proof which is good since he is a pretty rough kid and likes to horseplay a lot, so I feel this watch will stand up to whatever he throws at it. ... show more

My kid enjoys the watch and shows it off to everybody. There are plenty of features and he has a bunch of fun using the photo feature. My major complaint is that it's like a bunch of really old tech slapped together, starting with Micro-USB. It's 2024, it should 100% have some with USB-C so that you don't have to go find an old micro-usb cable, which at least in my house are becoming rare. ... show more
