Phone works fine. There are 2 features that would be nice to have. Call forwarding, there frequently isn't anyone at office to answer Phone. Would be nice to be able to forward to my phone. So I can answer it. The second one is related. Be able to call Phone and listen to the messages

In January of this year I upgraded to AT&T VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol), and some of the phone systems that are specifically made for VOIP are twice the price of this VTech phone system! My Mom had many VTech phones, so I was assured of the quality of their phones already. This phone system is packed with many features that makes this an amazing buy! Here are just a few of them: You can set up your own message or use a prerecorded message for your answering machine, you can shut off the answering machine or turn it on with one click of a button. When you are out for the day and come home, if you have any messages you will see a flashing light on the base to let you know. You can shut off the ringer completely, raise and lower the volume of the ringer, and you can even program this phone to shut off for many hours and have it turn on again automatically. It has that all important feature, "FIND HANDSET," for those of us who are sometimes misplacing our cordless phones and end up spending valuable time searching for it. It also has a mute button on the base as well as on the handset. The buttons (as well as the letters and numbers on them) are nice and big so that you can immediately see what buttons you need to push, which makes is a great choice for older people or anyone with poor vision. Although the buttons on the base do not light up, the buttons on the handset do. The sound quality is excellent! No static whatsoever like I experienced with my landline phones! I chose to purchase this particular phone because it has a speaker phone option on the base, as well as on the cordless phone that comes with this system, which makes it so much nicer when someone calls and you are trying to do the dishes, etc. I also like the fact that the base comes with a corded phone for those times when you want your conversations to be more private. For those of you who do not have a cell phone or rarely use one, this VTech Phone System is a great choice for you, as well! This phone system is very easy to set up and I like how the screen on the base is on an angle which makes it easy for you to see who is calling if you have your phone on your desk like I do. This VTech phone system is one of the best purchases that I have made on Amazon so far, and definitely the best digital phone system that I have ever owned! I highly recommend it!

I am so disappointed because I really liked this phone. I liked the size of the base because it did not take up much space on my night stand, I especially liked that I could screen, listen to and delete voicemails from the handset. The only drawback to me was getting use to placing the cordless face down when using speakerphone. If you place it face up you can't hear or be heard clearly because of the speaker being on the back of the handset. Now to the bad part. I have only had this phone for about 8 or nine months and it no longer works. I can neither call out or receive calls. When I pick up the phone to dial out I get a dial tone that I can barely hear because of all the static, then it goes to a busy signal, then to a line in use signal and then just low static. I do not have DSL internet so I know that it is not interference. I know that that there is nothing wrong with my phone lines because when I plugged in an older phone I have it works just fine. I thought maybe one of the wires had gone bad so I swapped out the handset wire and the wire that connects to the phone jack. Same thing. Conclusion: phone is crap. The warranty is good for a year but only if you return it in its original packaging which I do not have. I have never had even the cheapest phone go bad in a year's time so I did not think twice about throwing the box out. I do believe I had it for a couple of months but when decluttering a closet decided to throw it out. But that's ok, why do I want to spend my money returning a crap phone to receive the same crap phone. Needless to say I am not recommending this product and I will never buy another one of their products.
