  • Really great chair! Needs better tire tubes.
Color: Red Size: 20" Seat Width
The media could not be loaded. I'm giving this a 5 star review despite one large product defect. The defect can be over-come, and the company was so communicative and helpful, that they deserve the 5 stars. First the bad: the tubes in these tires are garbage. I read reviews that also said this before I bought the chair, and I intended to purchase new tubes ahead of time, but just didn't have the time to do that before my dad needed the chair. When you're taking care of someone who needs a wheelchair, it's important that it works 100% of the time. I wound up needing to transport my dad on this on completely flat tires. I took the tires to a bicycle shop and they replaced the original tubes. The company reimbursed me for this and we've had no troubles with the tires since. The tires came deflated. My brother in law pumped them up, but they quicky deflated again, one side more significantly than the other. I kept trying to pump them up to the correct pressure, but they just wouldn't persist. As the attached video shows, the nozzle/valve pushed into the tire at that point, and it was really difficult to hold it steady and attach a pump to inflate them. Attached also is a picture of the new tubes the bike shop installed. These have a metal nozzle/valve (though I'm not sure that's necessary), but they also have like a metal ring/nut on top that keeps the nozzle above the tire. The person installing these told me that might help. I have no idea whether these types of tubes are necessary, but I can tell you they are working well. Like I said, the company who sells these has been really great in their communication, but I would suggest they pass along the strong suggestion to source higher quality tubes. If they pay only $10 more for dependable tubes it would be worth it, and I'm sure people would pay a few dollars more for better quality. Now for the good stuff. I bought the 20" wide seat, because my dad is 206 lbs. It's a great size chair for him. The seat height is also great, which was one of the big selling points for me. So many of these chairs have a low seat. Elderly people have trouble standing from a low seat, so I'm not sure why all wheel chairs don't have a higher seat like this. The chair is comfortable to sit in. My dad has sat in it for hours on the patio, and hasn't asked to move to one of the patio chairs instead, so it's clearly comfortable. My dad can maneuver himself easily in this chair. We've taken it out on a few outdoor paths of dirt/wood/bumpy asphalt/crushed stone.. and it maneuvers very well. It is a lightweight chair, so you have to be mindful of that and not tip it. (you know, I wouldn't do downhill races with it..) But the light weight is a plus too as it's easy to lift into a trunk. I'm a 51 year old woman and I have no issue at all lifting it. My 75 year old mom lifted it into the trunk the other day and I didn't even notice her doing it, so it clearly wasn't a strain for her. We take off the foot rests to get it into the car but leave the wheels on. This is just a really well designed chair, certainly for what we are using it for. I recommend it, though I would definitely plan to replace the wheel tubes before you use it. Oh, another plus - they sell a lot of replacement parts. I can see down the line we might want a new seat cushion, etc. It seems that you can buy all replacement parts, so that's sure to be a plus as well. ... show more

  • 20" black wheelchair
Color: Black Size: 20" Seat Width
Needs anti tippers but there's no holes for reg. ones even under the rubber foot checked. got universal clamp on anti tippers they work well. tires say 24"/1.95 for tire size but my tires seem ok, so far. the seats are made of mesh under the cushions i cant find replacements on line if they were out but there are universal replacements. to fold wheelchair in half you take off cushion and lift seat in the middle. if you have no mobility to change a tire i suggest a solid tire wheelchair. i can stand and walk but badly and spontaneously fall down nerve damage i need more independence by myself and i live in all weather this will be perfect for outdoors winter sidewalks i hope and exercise at the park its better with no carpets i need to buff up for grass. lol ... show more

  • no problems at all with tires properly inflated to manufacturers instructions
Color: Red Size: 18" Seat Width
Have 4+ months of usage indoor and out, and it is great. Was suspect of tires given lesser reviews, but read instructions, have lost maybe a half pound of air each since unpacking and assembling 4+ months ago. My father loves its comfort and ride, it is much easier to pack away than the old "drive" unit we wore out, and is worth every penny. Human actually answers the phone at US distributor. ... show more

  • Glides with no effort and folds up easily for trunk
Color: Red Size: 18" Seat Width
My mother is 98 lbs, I wanted this chair for outdoor use on paved paths and sidewalks. I used it for the first time on a paved path with some holes and dips. I’m over the top impressed, the chair did not feel as though it was unsteady going over bumps and holes in the least. My mother did not want a chair so we called it a bike chair and she learned quickly to love it, she said how comfortable it is. The wheels have easy to use locks and the way it glides with no effort was amazing. I also like the light weight, easy to take the foot steps off and fold up for my trunk. I’m so happy with this chair and excited for mare adventures to come. I purchased a small back pack for the back and bam! What fun this will be to finally be able to take my mother places! No regrets. ... show more

  • First Look is Good
Color: Red Size: 18" Seat Width
Bought for aging parent but not yet used. First look is great. Looks and feels sturdy. Tires fully inflated. Easy to unfold and fold back up but had to turn sideways onto its side to open it or push down to close it. Instructions are limited and don’t provide the best way to do it but may find a better way as it starts being used. Back wheels come off surprisingly easy with the quick release which is a feature that I keyed in on. That will make it easier to get in the car trunk. It was easy to line them back up and snap back into place. Seat mat is thicker padding than hospital wheelchairs and cheaper priced ones so it will be so much more comfortable. Same for the back padding. They both use Velcro to hold then on so they are fairly easy to remove if needed and for folding the chair to put in the car. Overall my first impressions are that I am glad I spent a little bit more money for what looks to be a good quality wheelchair. After we use it I may add more info on how well it worked. ... show more
