Nice size box for the price. Overall good selection but several rocks were much thicker than was expecting. If ordering again I would go up in size on the length just for my needs. As a random assortment though, I'm happy. Edit: ordered the next size up, I don't remember the pounds but it was the 5-7 in sizes. I got 5 rocks. Was not expecting that. They were pretty thick pieces. I got what I paid for and combined with the smaller box I made a pretty nice structure for my fish w plenty of hiding places. All in all I'm satisfied but I think it's fair to say the sizes may you get are all over the map. ... show more

Ok now if you look at the picture advertised it makes it seem that these slates are thick. All l can say is be careful not to cut yourself. These were thin and sharp. I was afraid my fish would injure themselves on most of them. I felt like they gave me the bottom of the barrel they came in, or " the left overs" l pulled about three pieces that were good so if that's all you need then by all means. ... show more

These are advertised as 3 to 5" stones. Most are <3" and the few that are over 3" are equal 3" are a quarter inch to a 1/2 inch wide with maybe 4 stones that are thicker.. May as well have sent a Box of slate chips. I could have achieved the same results with a sledgehammer and a 1x1 piece of slate... ... show more
