abunda_amazon_reviews Disclaimer: This is not a negative review the scope itself at all. Vortex is a great scope at a great value. This is to warn potential buyers who want this scope specifically for a scout style rifle. This version of the 2-7x32 Vortex Crossfire II scope is the model CF2-31003. This particular model has an eye relief of only 3.9”. So it will washout and higher magnification. If you are buying this scope specifically for a SCOUT STYLE rifle. You want the model CF2-31002. The only issue I ran into when mounting it on a Savage A17 was I used a Wheeler bubble level-level. When I was done the cross hairs were out of alignment with the gun by about 10 degrees. I contacted Vortex. They told me that this was not unusual. The adjustment turrets are calibrated to the cross hairs, not the external frame of the scope. Their advise was to use a plumb bob, which I did, and the issue was resolved. Wheeler's instructions assume the adjustment turrets are square with the cross hairs (reticle). On this scope, at least, it is possible (probable?) they are not. UPDATE: After messing with this scope way too long, I discovered it wasn't the bubble levels that were a problem, it was the reticle in the scope which was completely detached from the scope body, out of the box. I returned the scope to Vortex, which cost me $28 and they "repaired" the scope. In the meantime I purchased a MADE IN THE USA Leupold, which functioned flawlessly and was much higher quality. Vortex has OK customer service (they gave me erroneous reasons why the scope couldn't be leveled twice, once by email and once by phone), but you are out shipping costs, even on a brand new, defective product, at minimum. The issue, as I see it, is the little gold sticker on the bottom of the scope "MADE IN CHINA".;;Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2018;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;REVISED - Not a good scope. Both mounted on AR platforms of different calibers. Easy to zero. Better yet, holds the zero once you've found it. Excellent focus and clarity. The red dot works flawlessly. Probably the best thing about Vortex however, is their warranty policy which I got to test almost immediately. I loaded the weapons (with scopes mounted) in a two scoped rifle case for my first hunting trip with the new rifles and scopes. Upon my arrival, I discovered the case had badly tweaked one of the scope tubes. Not knowing if the other scope had been damaged, I called Vortex to see if they could rebuild the damaged one and check the other for issues with the assumption I would pay for the rebuild. Well, they did even better. They replaced the damaged scope with a brand new optic and verified the second was true and damage free. They had both back to me within a week completely free of charge. Service simply does not get any better than that. Until now, I've had a variety of optics on my rifles. But, Vortex will certainly get the nod going forward. "Tactical scopes" with large knobs tend to get in the way of the ejection port, causing malfunctions. There are a lot of ways to fix the problem, but I wanted a (relatively) low-cost solution with good glass that didn't require me to completely dismantle and change out the gas block. Enter the Vortex Crossfire optic. Across the web, Vortex glass is hailed as high-quality. This rather inexpensive Crossfire is no exception. Mounted on my Mini-14 using the 1" Ruger-supplied rings, it was easily zeroed and is trim enough to not interfere too much with the ejection port. The zero remained consistent after more than 300 rounds., with only two ejection malfunctions. I would like it to be "zero ejection malfunctions" but I don't think I'll get that without changing the gas block out. Overall: Excellent glass, maintains zero on a 223 and doesn't get in the way of the ejection port. I am using leapold rings. Have already killed 2 deer with it on this particular rifle this year, and it does not lose zero, a big factor for a heavy recoiling gun like a 30-06.
