We were looking for an electric fan to replace the one attached to the rear of our wood-burning stove when we came across this new technology! Amazing how it works! Terrific that NO electricity is required! The chip converts the hot surface thermodynamically to run the small turbine just by difference in temperatures! Amazing! Don't expect a BLAST of air (hence the 4 star instead of the 5) like from an electric fan, but hey, it is "free" energy!     • Silent! Safe! Cost effective!
Not only do I marvel at the technology but, this fan works perfectly. It's only job is to move the heat off of the top of the stove. It makes no noise, produces enough breeze to move the air but, not enough to be a bother. It is an electric motor that creates it's own electricity using metal compounds that play nice together. (Youtube it). I strongly recommend this product. I have even mentioned it to our local fireplace dealer. ... show more

    • Rattling Sound
The fan works well and blows some hot air from our Vermont Castings Defiant but I noticed that while it is spinning, the blade assembly is just a little bit out of center and it makes a slightly perceptible rattling sound. It bugs. I may send it back and request a replacement.

The flow of heat that flows into my living room is amazing! I live in an old house with minimal insulation. It gets cold in these Nebraska winters. I set it on top of the stove facing the doorway to my living room and I have another I bought that warms my bathroom area. I worried about frozen pipes this winter but these did the trick!     • MUCH BETTER than my previous stove fan!!!
I've had two identical "heat powered" stove fans from another manufacturer, bought from Amazon. BOTH FAILED. (Manufacturer replaced the first after I complained). When the second one failed, I decided to try a different brand, and went looking for reviews. A careful review I found rated the VODA 4 blade fan as the best among ten tested. In the test, the VODA's air flow performance stood out. They had some kind of device to measure the flow in cubic feet per minute. And moving air is the whole point of a fan. So I bought the VODA. It's immediately obvious that the VODA moves substantially more air than the other brand I had. Here's how I know: When my house is cold because I've been working outdoors all day and I have just come indoors and lit my my wood stove, I like to sit in a small rocking chair close to the stove to warm up. I get pretty close, so I can feel the heat...and the breeze. With the previous fan, it was really hard to detect air flow. With the VODA, there's no mistaking the breeze on my face coming from this new heat powered fan. It's far far better. Not only that, but the fan COMES WITH a stovepipe thermometer which again is far better quality than the cheapie i bought last year from Amazon. Highly recommended! ... show more
