I can tell a lot of thought went into the design of this backpack cooler. The exterior has several useful pockets: one big enough for plates, one sized for cutlery and napkins, two side pockets that will each hold a wine bottle, and a pocket on top that might hold a couple of bananas or candy bars as shown on the product page. The backpack straps are contoured and well-padded as is the back. There’s a chest strap to stabilize a heavy load and a tethered bottle opener on one shoulder strap with a loop that keeps it from swinging around. The inside liner has heat-sealed seams and can be pulled up outside of the backpack (still attached) so it can be wiped clean or air-dried. I tested the waterproof claim by filling the backpack about 1/3 full of water and detected no leaks. The waterproof zippers (based on look, not testing) move easily, even around the corners which is almost always tricky. The insulation feels like dense foam, about a quarter inch thick on the sides and back (where the straps are) and a little more than a quarter inch on the front (where the pockets are). As for capacity, the cooler easily holds three half-gallon bottles of juice with room for another across the tops of those (see photo). While the Amazon page says it holds 36 cans, I measured a capacity of 4 cans across and six high, or 24 cans. It might be possible to fit a few more, since it’s not a rigid body, but I don’t think 12 more is possible. The internal measurements I took were 15-1/2”T x 12”W. The Amazon page also says the backpack weighs 1.7 lbs., though mine weighed 2 lbs. 2oz. While I’m not happy with misleading claims on product pages, and will dock a star for it, this cooler has a capacity large enough for my needs and it doesn’t seem too heavy. The backpack does have an odor which I hope will dissipate after it has aired out for a while. The only improvement I would suggest is to make the outer pockets expandable, but it really is a nice backpack cooler as is. ... show more
