Inexpensive but effective! These are small 12-cell starters trays with a simple airvent. I have them in front of my window that gets a few hours sun every day. I would not put these directly in the sun, if it is over 65 degrees F outside, unless you plan to cook your seeds. The heat cannot escape well even with the vent holes open. I have planted 48 seeds and now, two weeks later I have about 75% success, and that number may go up. Just needs a little water in each cell at the beginning, and then close it off and wait. Once germinated, the clear lid can be removed so that the plants can grow a bit before transfer to small nursery pots. Comes with simple garden tools and labels.

Likes: Planted strawberry seeds and finally getting some results. tray is pretty solid and the quality is acceptable. Concerns: Not for outdoors when it is cold I am afraid it might shatter from the temperature change. Kept or Returned? Kept and is mainly used indoors and so far it is holding up pretty good. Just 4 stars because I don't have any confidence this can handle outdoor applications if needed. Thanks for your time and I hope this review was helpful.

Everything you need but the soil. Very nice kit. The two little tools sent with it are very helpful, especially since at first I thought “What the heck do I need this for?”, but indeed they are my little ‘go to’ seedling helpers! The lid works very well with keeping moisture in. I don’t have a problem with it staying on snug. I really like the clear trays so I can see how the watering is going and later to see what the roots are doing. One caution is I left a green tray in the Southwestern sun (yikes!) and it did melt it slightly. It IS plastic and not battleship metal so mea culpa! Last, but not least, the white labels are large, very sturdy and reusable.

Starting your spring/summer seeds indoors is a must for every gardener to get a head start on spring planting. These mini greenhouses are perfect, 4 rows with 3 section so you can plant 12 plants in each container or I double up with some seeds. This comes with a cover to keep the moisture in and a tray for underneath, so no mess when you water, once the seedlings are big enough just let them go without the lid and when your ready to plant, so easy just pop out your plant (exactly like the pony packs they sell at the garden store minus the cost) it also includes tags to write date and type of seed planted, it also includes a couple little tools to help you plant (which I did not use) all in all great price and again great for starting your seedlings

I'm of two minds about this. On the one hand, its very inexpensive and my seeds all sprouted. On the other hand, i'm an experienced gardener and seeds usually sprout. This time, they seemed a little sad until I got them out of there. The kit consists of six six packs which are inserted into a green plastic cache box and a plastic cover, and a heat mat. I set this up under a very low hung flourescent fixture. The mat is set via a thermostat that appears to be reliable. I was happy with the mat. The cache pot is green, and holds the six pack insert slightly above its base, which is good for any potential run off. The clear top has a sliding vent which is cute but not particularly useful, and blocks the light from the center of the dome. My problem is the insert is clear plastic which, I suppose, is intended to allow you to check root development of your seedlings but also appears to allow in some light, and is decidedly stiff. The kit comes with two little utensils - a dibble to push the seedlings out of the sixpack cells through the bottom drainage hole, and a forkish thing which I guess is for pricking out the seedlings. You can tell, though, that unless you have compacted soil or very solid overgrown rootball, this is not going to work. The clear plastic is not collapsable like most plastic six packs and will help you push out the full rootball. The rootball would take the force and likely break apart. I got the seedlings out by cutting the clear plastic away with a scissors. So it's a one use thing for me. Once I transplanted the seedlings to non-transparent pots, they immediately improved.

Honestly I pretty much love everything vivosun I have. This combo is no exception, it's a no brainer. Using it right now to germinate some seeds, love it. Everything included is good quality and reusable! Besides the labels really, depending. The lids/vents could be a little better, but their still nice for being simple. Overall 5 stars without a doubt.
