I just received these brushes and will add these to my collection including the already many other brushes I own. These are synthetic brushes that are good for basing, but will not last very long. That just makes the price more of these more reasonable knowing that synthetic brushes don’t last very long. If you are a beginner and not painting super high-quality parade ready miniatures then these brushes are a great place to start. You won’t get extremely clean lines or perfect coats on the first coat, but you shouldn’t expect that out of brushes at this price point. The wood handles are nice. I honestly wish these brushes didn’t have a gloss finish, but had a matte finish instead because for long hours of painting they may get a little slippery. Note: clean your brushes after each session so you don’t get hooked tips (for any brushes) like me. ... show more

I started painting again after a long hiatus. I stumbled across these detail brushes. They are short, stubby handled brushes with a rounded triangular cross section that make them really comfortable to hold. The ferules seem like stainless steel and the brush heads come nicely shaped to a fine point. They are soft with a little spring that makes it easy to control paint at the tip. Yet they are not so soft that the hairs want to splay out at the tip. You can blend or twist as you lightly stroke to make thin lines. They’re excellent brushes for the price. They clean easily and so far the few I have tried hold their shape well. I mostly use them for detailing in oils, but they are also good for watercolor and acrylic. ... show more

Really like how fine the tip is on these brushes. There are supposed to be 12 different sizes but they are so close it looks like 4 or 5 different ones but it's plenty to do all the fine detail work I would need. I am very impressed with the handles they are not just round they have flattened spots on each one that is designed to hold your fingers or thumb to give you better control. The brush heads are made from nylon and they seem to hold your paint well and don't drop hairs or threads all over your projects. ... show more

    • Great deal for the price
This is a lovely set of small detailing brushes. They have a wooden handle which is very easy and comfortable to hold. If you treat them gently with use, I expect I’ll get more than the cost value out of these brushes.

Here are some opinions about these brushes and their parts: The brushes came individually wrapped. The handles are comfortable, at least to me, but a friend tried one out and said that they didn't care for the imposed grip. The ferrules (the metal parts holding the bristles) seem strong and tight. At any rate, no bristles have fallen out yet. When I first looked at the brushes, I thought there was glue on the surface of some of the ferrules, but it turned out to be sizing, and it was easily washed off. (Don't forget to wash your brushes before you use them!) So far, I like these brushes. It's a nice selection in a full array of sizes, from 000 up to 9, and yet I would have liked to have seen a 0000 brush in the mix. ... show more

I use these types of brushes for painting miniatures for display and gaming. The miniatures I paint are from a very wide range of manufacturers (Reaper, Games Workshop, Archon Studios, various boardgame manufacturers, and so on), using primarily acrylic (Reaper, Vallejo, GW, P3, Army Painter,etc.) and oils (various) paints. Additionally I tend to use a broad range of brushes as well (Windsor Newton, Reaper, Army Painter, GW, Raphael, Rosemary & Co., and so on). I do look to grab inexpensive brushes where I can as there are tons of uses for them. I attempt to keep my brushes in as good a shape as possible for as long as possible, good cleaning and storage helps with that. All of this rambling is to establish my use. Now, about these VIVIFun brushes. This pack of 12 bushes cost less than a single size 1 brush from Reaper and are a fraction of the cost of a W&N Series 7 watercolor... but are they worth it? Well, yes. These have good construction, the brushes keep their tip well (for as little as I've used them to date), and clean easily. TH equality isn't on-par with the more expensive brushes, but I wouldn't expect them to be. If I have any complaints, it's that the body of the brush tip is not as full as I generally like. This leads to paint drying quicker on the tip, resulting in more frequent loading of the brush and more trips to the cleaning pot.     • Terrific detail brushes
I do a lot of fine detail painting and painted calligraphy, so I go through a lot of detail brushes. I dont know how long this set will last, but brand new theyre very good. They load up well and lay down a nice, even line that's responsive to pressure. You get 12 nice brushes for a very reasonable price. I have no complaints with these ... show more
