The idea for Grabie started in January of 2021 as a response to the widespread anxiety and depression that touched many of our lives during the pandemic. We are dedicated to creating creative supplies that are fun, accessible, and supportive of mental health. I wanted some new detail brushes and decided to try these, even though I was not familiar with the brand. I'm so glad I did. I have only used the #7 and #5/0 so far, just to test the quality. There are 11 brushes in the set, I felt trying the beginning brush and the ending would be a good trial, and the numbers between will follow the same quality. The brushes are not too soft and have a little snap, just what's needed for fine detail work. They hold enough paint, point well and don't splay out with use. The points are especially important, needed for fine detail work, and these are really wonderful. The contoured brush handle is comfortable. There's a really nice selection from 5/0 to 7, a great range of sizes and enough for just about any task. The 5/0 is not always an easy brush to find so, I'm glad it's part of the set. The brushes are exactly what I need to detail my watercolor paintings. They came in a divided cloth pouch with covers over the tips. They store beautifully in my watercolor equipment bag.

Given the price, wasn't expecting these to become the only brushes I use. I have a collection of more expensive brushes, but this set has now become my go-to. The variety of sizes is perfect, point retention, just the whole experience is seriously amazing for the price. My only issue was a few of the brushes had straggle bristles, so those had to be fixed. Water retention is based on brush size, but the larger ones definitely hold their fair share of water/pigment. The largest brush has even been used for some fine detail work that the smaller brushes could have accomplished, but they are all just capable of doing what you need. Definitely worth the purchase. I would've given 5 stars had it not been for the bristles, which 4 brushes were shipped like this. But, I would buy this for any beginner, professional, or anyone in between. I rarely write reviews on Amazon! OMG these brushes are unbelievable! I've been using them for two weeks now for my detailed work on my oil painting. No fraying of the bristle edges yet. They are perfect for detailed work.
