This is a high value treat which is very important. I find it excellent for training and rewarding good behavior. I find treats like kibbles do not work at all. I do not use as everyday dog food, training only. I wear a treat pouch so this treat is always in easy reach. It is expensive but don't need much when used for training, 2 or 3 of these small treats is all my dog needs, but need to reward her good behavior very quickly, a couple of seconds. My dog is a 3 year old rescue pit bull, she was not socialized as a puppy. Here's a couple of examples of using these treats for training. When on a walk if she ignores strangers I give her these treats which she loves. Reactive to strangers no treats. Pulls on the leash no treats, walks politely treats. Responds to "heel", treat. Slowly but surely she gets it. It works! ... show more

I'm not sure what to think.. I've been feeding my kiddos the Freshpet refrigerated food & they luv it, but I wanted to put sum kibble back in their diet. So I bought a small bag of the vital beef bits. They didn't come running like I was hoping, but they have tried a lil of it. I'll keep putting it down & if anything changes I'll edit this review Update to this review from 2 stars to 5 I left this down & my lil Chihuahua luvs it I have it mixed with other good kibble but he's digging thru that to get to this stuff. Packaging on dog food when bite size or mini is seldom discernible. This makes sending wrong product an easy mistake. I didn't even notice until I opened the bag. Manufacturers need to do better. An entirely different color for small breeds maybe.

Our fussy pups like these mini beef nibs. I supplement this with home cooked food. I wish the manufacturer could sneak in some veggies! When filling out this review I rated “ flavor “ as 5 ⭐️ but it’s a guess on my part because my dogs are slackers and haven’t learned how to talk yet. 😁

My dog has eaten Vital Essentials for years with no problems - the one in the previous packaging (blue and black). I recently bought the same product but the packaging was different. I read online that only the packaging had changed, not the food recipe. I fed it to my dog, and he threw it up. The second day, the same thing happened. I contacted the company and they said nothing changed. However, the food looks different than the previous food. They say they have a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee, but ONLY if you buy the item from them or Chewy. If you buy it from Amazon or a pet store, there is no guarantee. So I just put an expensive bag of food in the trash. But I will not risk my pet's health for the cost of this food I will not buy anything from Vital Essentials again! ... show more

Over the last year or so I have begun purchasing these treats as recommended by my dog trainer. I noticed how receptive my dog was to her and needed to know her trick. Well, these are it. I have bought a variety of flavors but beef is my dogs favorite. The treats a small and freeze dried so they are easy for your dog to consume. The added bonus is that they treats smell which is a great motivator for your dog. As soon as I grab my treat bag full of these, my dog knows it is time to work and he is just so receptive to me.
