I cannot speak highly enough of this company. This product is so well-made yet so easy to put together. The hardest part of the whole thing is putting the little screws in the netting for the inside of the catio and that is nothing. I literally had to keep pushing my cats away because they were fighting to try to get to it before it was done in the window. It is winter time here in Illinois and I was debating a couple months ago on taking it out for winter. We have had some really bad days -20 below with windchill and I feel absolutely nothing coming through it. The cat flap is so easy for the cats to use and if they don’t like it, you couldn’t remove it until they learn and get used to it. My actually broke after six months while my cats were jumping from I think a distance further than necessary, and I believe it made it harder on the device so I contacted VistaGato about their two year warranty and no problems at all! I sent them an email of the pictures a copy of the invoice and they sent me a brand new one! Seriously when is the last time you did not have to fight with customer service or a company or mess around and get all the parts and Reeboks it and ship it back I didn’t have to deal with any of that! I am so impressed. I literally am thinking of getting another one for the back bedroom window in the summertime and if I do, I will definitely this company again. You would be crazy to order one from anywhere else. I’ve never seen any other one that looks easier to assemble even though it’s plastic it is durable. I totally believe it was all on my cats, putting too much pressure on the step that caused it to break so I did put a cat post that was shorter slightly under it so that they would have to jump on that first and then to the unit and I have had no issues since. Thank you so much VistaGato for making such a quality product. I wish my cat could talk so he could tell you how much he loves this day or night snow or rain. He’s out there scoping out the squirrels and the birds.

Cats need to have enriched and natural surroundings for their mental well-being. As cat lovers know, they are not toys made by human beings but by the same Creative Spirit who made us, they are endowed with their sense of nature, and self, and they belong to this world as much as human beings. They need fresh food, fresh water, fresh air, and most of all dignity. This catio is a way of helping cats feel cared for and meets their needs for fresh air, and outdoor observation, and generally improves their wellbeing by enriching their in-house environment. I highly recommend this catio, but I didn't expect my cat to immediately know what it was for. I have trained my cat to go into it with treats, as I would with any new item or toy. So take your time introducing your cat to it. Rub a cloth over your cat and then wipe it around inside of the catio so they have their scent on it. Leave the flap off until your cat gets used to it. Make it as inviting as possible. Don't expect them to immediately take to it--cats aren't usually like that--be patient and reward them when they go in and they'll start to feel safe and secure inside in no time. It is very important to measure your window. The window we chose to use was too large for the catio, but we cut some boards and inserted them in the windowsill next to the catio on either side to make it work nicely. It's very secure and safe, and you can take it down when you need to for any reason without taking apart an entire homemade catio situation. These are elegant boxes, and large enough for a large cat. My cat probably weighs about 15.5/16lbs right now, and he likes to spend time inside. The entire catio is a kind of clear plastic, even the bottom so while I put a pad on the bottom so my cat could relax comfortably in soft fabric, it's neat that if we took it off, he could stick his head in there and look down to see what is happening below. It looks nice in the room. If you care for your cat, and are looking for an elegant solution for a window catio, this is a great choice.

My cats love it. Very nice. This my 2 cat patio. And this one is definitely better. So far it’s great. Hasn’t rain yet so…. Have to get back to you on that. But so far it’s great. I definitely recommend if you don’t let them outside. Like myself. I feel this still let my cats, feel like they outside.

I’ll be honest: “best” does not mean ideal. Over the years I have done exhaustive research and purchased a few. I’ve yet to find any with no issues, and that includes the Vistagato. With both pros and cons, it nonetheless ranks at the top of my list at this point. First, the cons: 1. It was not for me as easy to install as the description and video led me to believe. Directions are minimal, though the design is intuitive and didn’t take much brain power to figure out the bit of assembly required. Ideally a second set of hands would have been helpful in the initial positioning into the window frame. 2. The accordion extension panels have no locking device so that when extended they have a tendency to retract back in. 3. There were a number of areas around the perimeter of the unit that allowed for some air leakage, so I used foam insulation strips to get as air-tight a seal as possible. Fortunately I already had some and did not have to purchase any. 4. The screen does not fit as well as it should. Ideally it should come pre-assembled in a frame with a waterproof seal that then gets screwed into the unit. 5. There are in my opinion insufficient holes in the bottom to drain rain water that might enter through the screens and as well there is no lock on the flap door for those times one doesn’t want your cat to have access. All in all it took me about two hours of finagling and tweaking to get it to the point I was satisfied with the installation. Now the pros: 1. All commercially made catios are ridiculously expensive for what they are. That said, the Vistagato ranks as one of the quality models with a lower (if not the lowest) price. 2. Some reviews claim that the unit is “flimsy.” I disagree. While it is indeed plastic and light weight, it feels quite solid and can easily hold up to reasonable use. 3. The screening material is reinforced/cat-proof so that even the sharpest claws cannot rip it and allow for escape. 4. The translucent neutral color is relatively unobtrusive and looks much like a window air conditioner. 5. The interior is quite roomy. My boy is bigger than most cats but he can easily recline for a leisurely nap. 6. The entire front of the unit opens to allow for easy cleaning and changing the cushion I put down for total comfort. As well, the flap door is removable if desired. 7. I have always provided my exclusively indoor cat with an enriched environment that includes two other catios and perches/cat trees in every window. It literally took my guy about 45 seconds to check out his new catio and promptly make himself at home. That alone is a trustworthy endorsement. 8. FANTASTIC customer relations!! I contacted the seller and offered some constructive criticism for product improvement. He responded to my email very graciously and thanked me for providing my feedback. It is rare these days as a customer to feel heard and appreciated. I felt valued and would rank them as world-class in terms of customer satisfaction. I feel sure that if I had a problem he would not hesitate to assist. Just to note, as I already had a little perch in the window sill with which my cat was previously familiar I chose to keep it there and not use the “porch” that came with the unit. Bottom line: my cat loves it, so I do as well. I can confidently say, given my years of experience with cat furniture, the Vistagato is a solid value. Cats are typically cautious about new things, so expect that it may take some time and training to get your kitties comfortable with a catio and/or flap door. As with any training and familiarization, patience is key.

I was very excited about this product. I like that it's plastic for easier cleaning. The screens are good quality. The accordion door, unfortunately, does not seem to fit well in our windows. The bottom tracks don't align well. We've installed it as best as we can, ensuring it's stability, but it'll be a pain to take it in and out of the window when we want to turn on the HVAC. We didn't get a catio with a door, unfortunately, thinking it would be easier for our cat to get in/out. The Catio itself is nice, but it will take some additions to make it work for us.

We have a rescued indoor only cat that loves to go out on our front porch and "basically sleep" for hours on end in the summer. Now this is wonderful, but we get a little overwhelmed when he wants to be out there for hours- all requiring adult supervision. So we have been looking for some time for a way to give him what he wants without taking over our lives. Amazon has many Catio type devices, many of them quite elaborate. But, we were looking for something that was basically "plug & play" for one of our porch windows. The setting (see picture) lets us sit out & be with him, but are not "tied" to responsibility for supervision for hours. This class of products fits that bill & was easy to install for a reasonable price. The catio is designed for modern windows, we did find we could provide a "tighter fit" by using some "string foam- 1/2" & 1" (see pictures) for the installation. With this tight installation it really doesn't matter if the cat will use the entrance door or if you leave the door off. I did have to contact customer service for one problem, I caused; their response was immediate, friendly, & a happy contrast for what one often gets from customer service these days. Highly recommended!

My cat loves the outside but when we moved with my daughter, the cat couldn't go outside. No space for a larger catio so this is the compromise. I can put it in and out of the window myself, as needed. If it's summer, I'll leave it up until winter starts, then it'll come out. My cat loves to lay in it and catch the cool breezes or just watch the kids in the yard play.
