  • So much better than the cheaper knock offs
Size: 3x3
I had purchased several cheaper lights before getting this ones, I have two others with the same power ratings, number of diodes and dimensions and I thought they were fine until I installed this and turned it on and realized just how lacking they were. This thing is BRIGHT! At 50% strength, it matches the other lights I have when they are set to 100%. The hardware that comes with it is pretty nice. I appreciated the two pulley ropes that are provided, it’s a huge step up from the normal small chains I’ve been using for my other lights. You can easily adjust the height in seconds by releasing the lock on the pulley and then lowering or raising the ropes. The heat dissipation works really well - my others lights get hot to the touch after an hour but this one is just warm - maybe a little warmer than skin temp. The heat sink material that backs the lights works really well. Also the new upgraded lenses really seem to make a difference. I think I will only purchase these going forward. It’s a little more than what I was spending on lights but it’s money well spent. ... show more

  • Best Grow Lights for Your Buck!
Size: 4x2
First, let me start with the disclaimer that I live in NY and grow cannabis within the legal limits as well as abide by any other cannabis related laws in New York. Now for the fun part. I wish had taken before an after photos because my cannabis plant was 1/3 this size 2 weeks ago before I added two xs2500pro lights to my 4x4 A/C Infinity grow tent. She is approaching 3 feet now and over 18 inches wide. I’ve not done see any LST with her and I just started wind training her. My grow tent is located in a spare room equipped with a window a/c unit. My tent is ventilated by a 395cfm exhaust fan with an optional intake fan located on the bottom. I also have the tent equipped with an oscillating fan. I am currently running my lights at %50 and %40 (for the smaller plants. The light temp runs on average at 85F degrees at these settings. The drivers just outside the tent run at about the same temp. They can be easily touched with no harm from the heat whatsoever. These lights are incredibly bright even at %50. I have the drivers located outside the tent which I do recommend doing. I also purchased two inline switches so I am able to turn the lights off completely. That’s a personal choice. I can say reliably that they do make a huge difference because the size of my largest cannabis plant exploded in just two weeks after more than a month under ”economy” lights. The light distribution seems to be very even. (I’ll update this review once I test the par map). So far, I am incredibly impressed with performance of the factory tested par map and I’ve not seen another manufacture with this uniform of a par map at this price and size. They use quality genuine Samsung LED’s and a Sosen driver. They are not the 301b or 301h LED’s, as far as I know, but I personally don’t care. Efficiency isn’t an issue for me as I am a small grower. My main concern is performance and these lights more than accomplish my performance goals 10 fold. Instillation is fairly easy. A few screws, a couple hooks and 2 ratcheting pulleys later, you’re done. I like the dimming options available, however my only issue here is that the nob does not line up well with the section your dimming. I actually count the steps from %0 to be certain I am at the desired level. I don’t know if it’s a defect or if they are deliberately made that way. I have no way to take my lights down and send them back for an exchange anyhow. I highly recommend these lights for a 2x4 grow or two of them for a 4x4 grow. If you know what you’re doing, they treat your plants right. Start by dialing it back one notch than recommended in the manual. Dial it up as needed according to plant performance or size. Little ones are very sensitive until they have a few nodes for the most part. Make sure you buy a good temperature/RH meter so you can spot test your plants and their locations individually to ensure the climate is correct for your variety of cannabis your growing. Not all cannabis varieties like the same conditions. If you’re growing other things, I would still say the same. Install the drivers outside of the tent to reduce heat and make your tent is well ventilated with a solid exhaust system. For anyone wondering about the more technical aspects, my entire system runs at less than 5 amps. Home break box 15amp circuits can handle that just fine if you aren’t running it on a circuit with a TON other things or anything heavy duty like an appliance. My a/c is on the same circuit with it, for example, giving me a total circuit load of approximately 9amps. If you prefer to be able shut them all the way off, grab an inline switch from Amazon for like $20. It’s an easy and cheap solution. I bought two 3 foot green light up ones from Mestek that plug directly into the power supply and split off, giving me an independent switch that is still technically inline. The driver plugs directly into the switch which is plugged into the power supply. I hope this helps anyone considering these awesome lights. I wish more growers would see how much value they have as they are superior to almost every other light out there in this size category. They absolutely outperform them based on my experience and homework. And I have done a ton of homework. Happy Growing! ... show more

  • Purchased for use with succulents, a sundew, and coleus plants
Size: 3x3
This review is for the 2024 XS1500 Pro model. I picked up one of these during a lightning deal about a month ago. There's a lot of options for lights like this one, and I was initially not interested in this model because it doesn't have LEDs evenly distributed across the panel. While doing more reading about the many other lights I ran across some information that explained how this model uses lenses to produce evenly distributed light. This was a very appealing feature as most lights have a very small strong center light zone and then a steep falloff around it. I then found a review video that did a pretty thorough analysis of the light distribution, tested with a high quality light meter, and the results were rather impressive. After having the light for a while, I have to say that it has been great. I run it at 50% power for ten hours per day, about ten inches above some succulents, coleus seedlings, and recently added a Cape Sundew. Despite getting not nearly enough sunlight through a north-facing window, with the addition of this light all of the plants are doing very well, with many showing sun stress colors. They are getting between 800 and 900 PPFD, depending on where they are located under the light, according to the Photone app. Mounting the light in wire shelving was very easy. The only thing I wasn't sure about was how to hang the ratcheting carabiner and rope, but I managed to figure that out. The included hardware would also allow hanging in a couple other methods. As others have mentioned, the light does not properly turn off unless you unplug it, have some other switch in line with the power cable, or connect it to a power strip and turn the strip off. I am using an outlet timer (ASIN: B014SGCN88) that I bought locally, and so far this arrangement has worked great. The power supply does get toasty even at 50% light output. I've not worried too much about the heat radiated from the light though as I am not using it inside a tent. It is drastically less heat than would be coming off of an incandescent bulb, that's for sure. So far the biggest benefit from using this light has been that since the light is so evenly distributed, I don't feel like I need to worry much about where the plants are positioned underneath it. I'd say that the PPFD charts that are shown in the product listing are pretty accurate. It really opens up a lot of area to put plants, rather than having that one small section with high PPFD, and trying to figure out which plant(s) need to be in that area. UPDATE ON 11-Aug-2024: I bought another one of these, received a few days ago. Viparspectra appears to have made some updates to this model. The brightness knob has been changed from 25% increments with 5% as the lowest setting on the first light I received, to 20% increments starting at 0%. So you can now turn the light off using the brightness knob. The power cable has changed from a non-detachable cable coming off of the same side as the brightness control, to a standard desktop computer-type power cable that plugs in on the end opposite the brightness knob. The daisy-chain setting has been moved from a switch to a spot on the brightness knob. The power supply on the first light did not have any branding on it, only model info and technical specs. This new one has Viparspectra branding along with the tech specs. The light output appears to remain great. So I'd say this revised version of the light is a good improvement, especially for those people who would like to be able to turn the light off on the brightness control. ... show more

  • No more DIY
Size: 3x3
For years I always built my own grow lights. Manufactured lights usually end up with hotspots in the middle with weak coverage along the edges. Not anymore!! Viparspectra has stepped up the game. Truly amazing light coverage in a 2x2. Just buy it!

  • Great light for the price
Size: 3x3
Decent grow light for the price. They have near and far red, but no uv. If they added this, made tha ballast remote and upgraded to newer led diodes, this light would be 5stars. For the price, just grab some uv specific bulbs and rig them to the sides. For 80$, it’s solid.
