  • A lot better than I expected.
Color: Chrome Mirror Silver Size: 12"x60"
Someone bumped the front bumper of my car and damaged the chrome trim. I tried variable "chrome" paint in the can, but none of them worked. The best these spray cans can do is create a brushed aluminum look, NOT anywhere close to chrome looking. Don't even waste your time and money with the spray chrome. The only real way to do it is to find someone who can chrome plate, which is expensive. So I decided to try a chrome wrap. I was hesitant to buy this wrap, because some of the reviews complained about finish, some complained about this wrap doesn't work well on curved surfaces, and others complained about the durability of the finish. But the reviews were still better than all the other wraps I could find, si for $10, it was worth a try. I didn't have too much issues with the 3 concerns listed above. Perhaps, it's because the trim I needed to wrap is thin and to get this wrap to work with it was pretty easy, but at least for my application, it was great. I'll comment each of the 3 concerns based on my experience. 1. Chrome finish quality: This wrap is definitely shiny like chrome. It has slight texture up close, but from 1-2 feet away, can't really tell. The wrap is very thin and you need to make sure the underlying surface is very smooth because the slightest imperfection will show. I found this out the hard way because I didn't sand smooth the trim piece I was wrapping so the first one, while acceptable looking ,wasn't good enough for my standards. 2. Ease of wrapping curved surfaces. I didn't have that much difficulty dealing with the curve of the trim piece. First, remove the plastic protective layer. The wrap itself is flexible, but the protective clear film on top is not, so remove it. For me, it helped to stick a small piece of the wrap in the middle of the curve, and stretch the wrap along the shorter side and then stretch the side on the longer side. The wrap can stretch ok to a point, just don't go overboard. Also, i chose to do a "wrapped edges" approach. Basically I cut the wrap much larger than the trim piece and stretched and wrapped around the edges and in back of the trim piece. This helped keep the wrap around the curve and edges clean. 3. Durability of finish. I thought the wrap was pretty durable, but since it is going to be used on the front bumper, I put a small clear bra PPF film on top of it made by Xpel that I had leftover. Overall for $10 and a 3 tries, I think it came out pretty good. Better than spending $100 on a new trim or money to get it chrome plated... ... show more

  • Great for the price, beginner friendly.
Color: Chrome Mirror Silver Size: 12"x60"
So this was my very first attempt at a wrap. I bought this to go over some craptastic ford chrome on my beautiful 2005 Thunderbird. The OEM “chrome” had bubbles and peeled away. Over $300 in parts…. …or buy this! So I bought it, slapped it on and am fairly happy with results. It looks pretty good. It’s not as shiny as the real deal, but it’s good in a pinch. It would make some good racing stripes…maybe a project for me later. A pro would have done better, I’m sure. But it was easy enough to set and reset. Here are some tips I discovered along the way: - remove the backing in the middle of your project, then you can work out from there. Also makes setting it/stretching into place easy as a solo job. - clean better than I did. I feel like it magnifies specs of dust. My bad. Clean. Then clean again. Then clean once more. - don’t have a 3yr old as your assistant. I learned this the slow way. - cut big initially, then trim to fit after. - a heat gun is too much heat. Hair dryer, or move to Florida is good enough. - leave the protective film in place until you’re all done. This does scratch pretty easy. Pros -price -workability -elasticity Cons -scratches pretty easily ... show more

  • Gets foggy if you heat or stretch it.
Color: Chrome Mirror Silver Size: 12"x60"
I applied it to aluminum trim and frame for a custom beer/soda tap setup. Practice and patients! Expect to do it at least 2 times before applying a final wrap to get a feel for it and the best way to apply without stretching it very much. This was the 1st vinyl wrap I've done and it turned out pretty good with practice, the nice thing about vinyl is you can just peel it off if you screw it up. I noticed if it was heated too much during application or stretched too much it dulled and the mirror effect was foggy. I learned through practice that applying cold and not stretching too much, it has a very reflective shine. I heated the backside of the aluminum after to assure adhesion but I don't know if this product requires heat to activate the adhesive like other do. My only complaint is that the adhesive leaves a very slight grid pattern that shows through the shine of the chrome. You do have to look unusually close to see it, but hell how I used it it saved me a ton of time and money over actual chrome plating several metal pieces. Realistically no one looks that close at most shiny things from several feet away and most don't have the eye to see it. Will you make a "chrome show car" or even trim with this? No. I wouldn't trust it to weather at 70MPH and it will never get as smooth or mirrored as a quality auto paint or chrome job. Basically you get what you pay for and this is cheap for a decent look. Use it modestly. ... show more

  • Very reflective almost like a mirror silver adhesive wrap beautiful and awesome
Color: Chrome Mirror Silver Size: 12"x60"
Hard to rate the thickness because I liked the thickness in that it wasn’t too thick or too thin for the project I used it for. it’s sturdy. its got a grid and ruler measurements whatever on the back so you can mark your measurements which that’s helpful. I personally struggled with applying it because I tried to take the back all off at once which it doesn’t suggest that, but I did before and that was a waste. Follow instructions and I do suggest you find like a drivers license card or something that some doesn’t have any raised bumps like a credit card, or You could use on one of those plastic I scrapers nothing with razors nothing sharp but did you get the idea and you would hold it at an angle smoothing out any bubbles that pop up as you take the back off and apply it to whatever surface you are applying it to. then smooth it out as you go to get any bubbles out and it will come out-in fact do this from now on when applying anything that’s permanent to get bubbles out. I find the drivers licsense or this plastic tool that my husband uses at work-he tints cars windows with film but get one of those those are gonna keep everything in ur simple and stress free. But lay it down and try to smooth it out just likely a little bit out at a time ... show more
