In the interest of full disclosure, as a trusted and unbiased amazon reviewer, I was able to request this product free of charge. Well machined face plate. It is steel, thick, and has good weight. Although it is CNC machined, this is not noticeable. I became aware of this by accident. There was a small spot which I rubbed off with my nail, and if I paid attention, I could feel the ridges which are extremely fine. Most importantly it threads easily and runs very true. There are two sets of concentric holes for mounting blanks (6 each). This allows you to fit a wide variety of turning blanks. A nice feature are the two flats which take a wrench which makes it easier to remove. The large face plate that came with my lathe doesn't have this feature. All in all, a good product which will compliment your other lathe accessories. ... show more

I do a lot of smaller wood turning and the giant 8" faceplate I have is often too large for what I want to do. This 2" faceplate is perfect for the smaller project I need it for. It is of very good quality and fits perfectly on my Jet lathe. There is no runout and it works exactly like it should.

This 6" wood lathe steel faceplate comes in a 1-1/4”x 8TPI spindle size. Both the finish and the threading are smooth and clean. There are two set screws along with an Allen wrench if needed. This faceplate runs true on my Nova DVR XP 16" lathe. The faceplate went all the way onto the spindle of the lathe with the lathe spindle just shy of protruding from the front of the faceplate without any spacer, so that was fine. However, I recommend putting on a thin plastic spacer in between just for ease of release when done. This is a solid faceplate with plenty of countersunk holes for screws to hold the blank for turning that I would easily recommend. ... show more

I bought this for my WEN lathe as an upgrade over the stock faceplate, and it fits the spindle perfectly (I got the 6" faceplate with the 1" x8TPI spindle). I love that it has a set-screw for a bit of extra safety when securing it to the lathe itself, and it makes me feel much safer when maxing out my relatively small late with a large (and often unbalanced) lump of wood. This review is for: VINWOX 6" Wood Lathe Steel Faceplate, 1”x8TPI Spindle Thread I have a cheap Harbor Freight 10x18 lathe and I have been wanting a decent size faceplate for making bowls and the like. This plate worked wonders! Before I attached any wood to it, I checked fit and balance. It was perfect. Threaded right onto the headstock (1x8 tpi) and had no problems on/off. The faceplate does have two setscrews on opposite sides to secure it to the lathe. Attaching wood was a breeze. There were no manufacturing defects, tailings, bad finish spots at all. Threads were smooth with no catches. A decent number of holes for screws depending on size and shape if your block. I recommend obtaining a long handle Allen key tool because the included key is just barely able to get over the edge of the faceplate. When you have wood on it getting fingers in there can be a challenge. Very pleased with this product! I foresee many new wood turnings in my future! ... show more

I was so excited to get this I didn't take a picture of the piece before as I immediately mounted a piece of 2 inch rough sawn (not planed or faced) wood lumber that I wanted to turn into a shallow bowl. The faceplate fit perfectly on my lathe (Rikon 70-220VSR) with the 1"x8TPI threads. With my lathe, I didn't experience the issue with the spindle sticking out beyond the faceplate, as mentioned by another reviewer. The overall depth between the front and back of the faceplate is 1.2 inches, so it might be a good idea to measure before buying. I used the inner row of holes to screw the plate to the piece of wood with 1" wood screws to reduce the risk of hitting any of the screws while working on the bottom. Piece felt very stable while turning even without being faced. Admittedly the piece was relatively flat, but not perfectly flat. Very happy with this item as it gives a large base for the wood to rest against vs the smaller plate I have. ... show more

This is a well made piece of equipment. Holds a 6" 4 jaw chuck just fine with no apparent runout. Had to get myself a spindle adapter, but other than that, it worked great out of the gate. There are plenty of hole options for mounting stock of various sizes if you want to use it for woodturning as well. ... show more
