I had a Zodiac Baracuda for years. I didn't want to spend $400 to replace it since it finally died. This Vingli unit was $90 and it is working great so far. Actually, I like it better than the Baracuda. If it continues as is then I say it is a terrific unit at a great deal.

We just got this item on Oct. 20, 2022. It replaced my third or fourth Zodiac Baracuda G3, which is the model of cleaner I've used exclusively since our pool was constructed Jan. 2004. This VINGLI is slightly more than 1/3 of the price of a replacement Baracuda. Replacement for the currently defective Zodiac part actually cost more than the entire VINGLI cleaner system. The VINGLI box contained a number of items, including eight normal male/female hose segments that were noticeably shorter than the ones I had in place. I left these in the box. I attached the cleaner to the Baracuda's existing hoses. It worked well, as energetic as the G3 was on its best day. It did not work, however, when I turned on the solar heater. Within a couple days, it wasn't even working with the solar heater turned off. It would begin to work, whenever I turned the filter on, and then stop within a minute. I replaced the old hoses with the shorter hose segments that came with the cleaner. They are the same diameter as the original ones, but, for some reason, the cleaner now appears to work normally, with all 8 of these standard VINGLI hose segments attached, and it exhibits that original liveliness. I'll have to wait a few days to see if It is actually cleaning. It still DOES NOT work whenever the solar heater is in use. The solar heater is a valuable component in our pool system; it maintains our water temperature for months, and makes burning the gas heater only necessary for half a dozen times each season [spa use notwithstanding]. Using the solar heater increases the indicated pressure in the system by about 10 pounds, which might have some affect on the cleaner, but I don't know why. For now, the only solution will be to run the cleaner without the heater, and let it idle during hours of heating. This, however, will increase the total time that the filter is in use, and, consequently add to the cost of my electric bill and take hours off the lifetime of the filter pump. Without any other solution, I will be forced to accept this less than inadequate one. Never in the past, has the use of the solar heater had any affect on the operation of the Zodiac Barracuda G3 pool cleaner. I can't figure out why it should affect this cleaner. ***UPDATE 11/04/2022: I have been in touch with the manufacturer, through Amazon. VINGLI were anxious to resolve my issue, and I already received a replacement days ago. The replacement was obviously a used item, probably returned by a previous customer, and shows some defects. The collar that holds the foot is deformed, and the foot will not seat properly. The ring/wheel that snaps on to the cleaner is bent, it is not a flat circle like the original. Today, I tried running it, and it won't work at all. The original one still works fine with the solar turned off, so I guess I have no choice but to continue using it. My intent in contacting the manufacturer was to get technical advice about the solar heater issue so that it could be resolved, but their feeble response was to send one of their defective returned items to me. There is every possibility that I can make some kind of adjustment in my equipment to correct the problem, and I will continue to explore that possibility - just not with the assistance of VINGLI. At least, as of November 6, it appears to actually be cleaning my pool effectively! ****11/9/22 Update: My pool man was here today. He made an adjustment to one of the automated valves, and the cleaner worked with the solar heater running. But our test was only for a few minutes while the pool guy was here, and he readjusted the valve to its previous setting until next year's swimming season. Until then, I won't know if it will work for the hours per day that the heater needs to run during the 4+ months the pool is in use. For now, I'll increase my rating to 4 out of 5 stars. *****12/26/22 Update: The cleaner runs for a short time when I turn on the filter, and then it quits. However, it is set to run for a few hours overnight, during periods of near-freezing temperatures. In the morning, when I check it, the VINGLI is usually not running with the filter on. But, the pool is clean, indicating that it ran well enough during the hours of darkness get the job done.

Works great when it's working. Lasted exactly a year and it wore itself out from it's vibration. The plastic connections wore down and became brittle when I unscrewed them to replace the yellow suction gasket. Time for another one.

Although it looked dorky, my previous pool vacuum on wheels came apart after two years, and my electric wind filled after one year because they don’t make one. It doesn’t corrode in salt pools. So what the heck I tried this, and I was amazingly surprised, it cleans the walls floors, everything, and the hoses look better than the high-end models I previously owned. Cleans the whole area better than expensive vacs.

Great value. Does well to get dirt, leaves, algae etc from the pool floor and walls. An adjustable pool pump is probably best for this unit. I found that it is inefficient at pump speeds below 2000RPM. Comments that say "it doesn't have suction" should either check the pump settings or check the duck bill valve (yellow rubber) for debris. This one came with a spare valve that I replaced after a year or so. When running this cleaner, I simply turn up the pump speed and let it go. It is so light weight that will climb walls and cover the entire floor surface during a normal run cycle. Mine worked for almost two years with very few problems. It still works, I just replaced it recently with a battery powered robot. A couple of the hoses began to show wear and tear recently but they have been out in the elements for almost two years. All-in-all, it's a great value for automated pool cleaning.

This is my third Vingli pool vacuum cleaner in about 6 years. It's probably not the best pool cleaner out there, but its $90 delivered to my home in a couple days, and it works for me. I go through a new diaphram every few months in the summer, probably 2-3 a year altogether. You need to get the Vingli brand diaphram, the other ones don't last or don't work right. You can get 2 for 10 bucks, not too expensive. I don't use their hose or adapters, I throw all the junk they send with the cleaner away. I use a regular 35' pool hose, from lowes and then attach that to an adapter that fits over my strainer. So as it vacuums stuff up, it goes through the strainer first, then to the pool filter if the particle is small enough. I do have to adjust the vacuum at the strainer to the sweet spot, for me that means adjusting the valve going to my strainer so its at 2/3 power with 1/3 going to the bottom drain. RPM on pool pump is about 3000. So by adjusting the pool pump power and that valve, I can regulate the vacuum going to the clearner. Besides the diaphram, there are no moving parts but the cleaner does seem to wear out after 2-3 years of heavy use. Plastic gets thinner, perhaps the pool chemicals weaken it, then you get cracks in places near the diaphram, and then it just stops working. I could probably buy repair parts but its just easier to buy a whole new one at $90. I wish they sold it without those hoses, I feel so wasteful throwing them away but they come apart in your pool when the pool pump shuts off and its a pain to reconnect. But I really do recommend as a cleaner. It can get stuck around my pool steps once that halo-ring thing gets worn or lose, it really is key to keeping the cleaner from getting stuck. Keep the cleaner in good shape, replace the diagphram, use a good hose and not the junk they include, and you will be happy with it.
