  • Solid video tripod
It's a video tripod, so it's not supposed to be light. On the other hand, it's fairly manageable. You wouldn't take it with you in the mountains, but for a permanent video shooting setup its next to perfect. The setup is very simple, it has a nice flexible rod which allows to position head ideally flat even if the surface is uneven. The only drawback i noticed so far is that the fluid head is kinda hard to move horizontally. The lever doesn't seem to make movement any easier, even if fully turned to the left. Not sure if this is just mine copy or is common for the whole line. So I need to hold the tripod when rotating camera left or right. Overall, very solid piece ... show more

  • excellent budget tripod with some limitations
I have four of these tripods now, and use them primarily indoors with mirrorless (lightweight) cameras. For the money they are really excellent tripods, but they have a few issues... Pros: tall - When the tripod is extended fully I need a stepladder to operate the camera (I'm 5'-8" tall). This is a good thing when I'm filming a performance and need to be over people's heads. decent fluid head - I'm no connoisseur of video fluid heads but these seem to be better than "ok". bowl-type head - It's much easier to loosen the handle below the ball head and level the head from there than have to adjust tripod legs. Issues: pan lock screw - When tightening the pan lock screw the camera head rotates, as if the screw is not centered on the rotation axis of the head. You can't position a camera and tighten the pan lock screw without causing the camera to "pan" a little to the right. loose bits inside the tripod legs - A couple of my tripods have loose bits of plastic or metal that slide around inside the tripod leg tubes. It doesn't impact function, it just sounds cheap. pan arm wiggles - Even when I really crank down the screw that secures the pan arm, the arm still wiggles a little inside its mount. Not a huge deal but could be better. bubble out of level - Like so many other built-in leveling bubbles, these are... not level. ... show more

  • A solid, very tall but HEAVY beast
I needed another tripod for video shooting and particularly wanted something that could go up very tall. This one goes up a total of 74" tall and doesn't use a center column to do that, so even at full extension things stay very stable. The fluid head seems to be a knock off of the one Manfrotto makes and at least to me seems about the same. This is a heavy beast though, made almost entirely of metal it is about 9 pounds and is said to handle a 22 pound load. Because of the knob locks and the way the legs work it takes a little bit longer to setup than a tripod with snap-locks on the legs. Probably not what you want for run-and-gun shooting but if you're not constantly grabbing and moving the thing around it should be fine. Overall it works good and comes with a sturdy carrying case. ... show more

  • Great and sturdy tripod, not good for long distance panning
This tripod is super tall! I don't know when you would need to use all the height it has, but it's good to know it's there. The biggest drawback is the head of the tripod does not provide good panning for long distance video. When zoomed all the way in at about 600mm, the head provided virtually no resistance, making every twitch in your hand show up in the video when tracking something. Sometimes the head would also stick in the vertical or horizontal movement if you didn't move it in that plane for a bit, only to suddenly unstick when you slowly apply more pressure in that direction and a big jerky movement is the result. Plan to get a better head if you get this tripod for long distance video like plane spotting. Its rather big when at its smallest, but the carrying case makes thing better for sure. ... show more

  • Just totally Awesome...
Someone from customer service called to see if it had arrived and any problems, it actually much sooner than expected, no problems with shipping and handling, I bought used, but I truly cant see this not being new, It looked brand new. The price was very affordable even if you did pay the new price, I cant believe I have this beautiful, sturdy tripod for my camera. I actually felt proud to have bought it. Its everything the reviews described and more. Im use to the cheaper ones, I have my own production company now and this tripod is more than meets my needs, it also has a powerful look and feel about it, ill order a few more. This heavy duty tripod, is easy too operate and a small person like me is able to handle it with ease. Im totally satisfied, and recommend this handsome tripod to everyone. this is a great product, that's durable, heavy and is all that's described, awesome customers service, no problem with shipping and handling. one of the reasons I bought this is because I hadn't seen any negative reviews for this tripod, but seeing is believing , the feeling you receive when you take it out the box and stand it up. It was like Christmas. 2 thumbs up. ... show more
