L O V E it. First of all - autofocus, sharpness... there are 2000 dollar lenses out there and they are better. This is not one of them. But the 2000 dollar lenses are the size of a tree trunk. If you love small, street style, unobtrusive look of your camera - what can beat this 150 dollar awesomeness. Now another thing - I was packed for trip to Tokyo. I bought this lens primarily to have a wide angle lens that could be used for vlogging using the Sony ZV-E1 camera in Dynamic Active Stabilization mode, as the camera crops in substantially in that mode. The 16mm focal length provides the width necessary so that you can hold the camera comfortably at arm's length. This lens offers a good sharp image that provides good control over distortion and decent control over vignetting. Personally, I like the vignette as it is a good, natural vignette... and when used in either APC crop mode or Dynamic Active Stabilization mode on the camera - the vignette is nowhere to be noticed. While this lens offers most of the familiar controls of the usual Sony lenses, it also has a focal depth of field scale that is digital and illuminated. The build quality feels as good as you would expect from a Sony G lens - and the huge f/1.8 aperture delivers great low light performance and good bokeh. This lens can command a higher price point - and I can't think of another lens with its feature set that comes close to it for the money. ... show more

Great lens for the price. Has a nice image rendering. Would be a little better if the aperture ring would lock or detent securely on the min aperture setting. I found the lens hood and lens cap a little tricky to get on and off, hoping it improves with experience. Focusing works very well. I like this lens. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I started my film making journey back in August of 2023, starting with a gimbal and a iPhone XR I have since bought a Sony FX30 + Tamron 11-20mm f2.8 lens to start with. Mounted on the DJI RS3 and I was off to the races! I used that setup for about 7 months and it was a darn good setup, but that f2.8 was holding back the FX30 by a lot. When it comes to real estate, lighting can fluctuate like crazy and having that f1.4 is amazing. Shooting in S-Log3 gives me an incredible amount of latitude to work with After spending a month looking for the next best 11mm-ish lens, I started to see a lot of people post about this and I had to try it. And I was not disappointed in anyway possible. I am not a photographer by any means but I dabble in it and man, that extra 2 stops of light is incredible. 2 weeks in and the lens is built extremely well, it feels like a quality product. Even with the FX30, Viltrox 13mm, matte-box, and etc. I can still easily balance it on my DJI RS3. Fantastic stuff. I love the way the aperture ring feels, some people would like some detents but it's not that bad IMO. The focus ring feels nice and smooth as well, but I honestly which it racked focus quicker. Still not that bad of a compromise! Pros: Bokeh, insanely beautiful Low chromatic aberrations Very low/no distortion Metal body, metal lens hood Cons: ??? Not free Not sealed to the camera body Overall, I am extremely pleased with this combo. I plan to buy a the Viltrox 27mm and 75mm f1.2 lenses in the future. I was using the Sony 16-50mm kit lens for years, and needed flood lights to get any kind of descent video quality out of my a6300. I finally pulled the trigger on a dedicated lens, mainly because it was actually affordable compared to the competition, and I regret that I didn't do this years ago. Pictures are taken with indirect RGB lights + PC screen in front of me only. No other soft boxes. 1) stock lens at 25mm zoom setting and f/4.5 aperture (as wide as it got) 2) VILTROX 23mm lens at f/1.4 aperture The difference in light intake and background blur is insane. Autofocus is smooth with no breathing. I had high hopes, but this did blow my mind way beyond expectations. ... show more

I did an online search for reviews and they were all great. The only thing I don't like is that the autofocus clicking sound gets picked up on audio. Otherwise the lens itself is living up to the positive reviews I've read.
