This lens provides exactly what I was looking for...personal space for my clients with excellent focus for me more distant than I usually am. I shot wide open yesterday with this lens and captured stunning focused images with the dreamy bokeh I wanted. This is an excellent lens at a truly affordable price point. This now has a permanent home in my camera bag. I highly recommend it. Note: this lens has some free-floating elements in it that make it feel like something is moving around when it is not in use. However, this normal because of its linear focus motor. Do not be alarmed. Once you power on the camera, the lens motor magnetizes, locks into place and works like a dream. ... show more

Very impressed with the build quality of this lens and the quality of the photos that it captures. This lens is so small that it reminds me of an apsc C lens. I was expecting it to be huge but it is smaller than my 50mm 1.8 S Z lens from Nikon. Anyway, it is lightweight, balances well on the Nikon ZF. It feels like it’s made of metal, I love that you have the option of “de clicking” the aperture ring if you choose. There is a custom button on the lens as well. The lens is bright, fast to focus and sharp at F2. I really like this lens. I can’t wait to use it in more settings. Viltrox is doing an amazing job creating lenses. I hope they make a 135mm F2 version some day! Or some type of standard zoom at F 2.8 or F4 for Full frame. If you’ll are looking for a small portrait lens for your Nikon Z body that doesn’t hurt your wallet. Jump on this lens. It’s amazing. Update the firmware first thing, I noticed that sometimes my Nikon ZF would not recognize the lens right away. The screen would stay black and you could hear the lens spazzing. I updated it when I got home, I’ll report back if the problem persists. ... show more

    • Excellent value for money / Don't forget to update the firmware
Love the size, build quality, and value for money for the whole Viltrox APS-C range for the Z mount. I own 23mm F/1.4 and 33mm F/1.4; both are compact and fun to use, especially if you like to stay in aperture priority or manual modes. By the way, the 33mm lens did not work with Z50 firmware version 2.50 out of the box. The camera was complaining about dealing with a non-CPU lens. Updating the lens firmware to v.1.06 did the trick. Don't forget to update the firmware when you get the lens! What you get: * Excellent sharpness * Fast AF eye detection on Nikon Z APS-C * Small size * Excellent build quality - all metal lens * Excellent look and feel * Shallow depth of field What you don't get: * Optical stabilization (mind the shutter speed) * Weather sealing of any kind (stay out of dusty and rainy situations) It's not an S-line lens, but it is an excellent alternative for Z50 and ZFC. Once Nikon adds in-body image stabilization to their APS-C cameras, the lens will be even better value. ... show more

First off I'm not a pro photographer or anything but I have had a lot of fun with this lens. The field of view at 14mm is great for landscapes, sunrise and sunsets. It makes for very interesting perspectives for portraits as well. Also the minimum focus distance is very close at a little less than 6 inches so it can make some great macro shots on flowers and objects. I also use with a Nikon ZF for selfie videos as the ZF crops while shooting video. Mostly I have it on my Z8 for time lapses and landscape shots. I have noticed some softening around the edges of the frame and distortion, but overall I'm very happy with it. I don't do any real estate pictures, but with how wide it is I can imagine it would be good for interior shots. The price is great and its so light and compact that I don't even notice it in my bag. ... show more
