This is a wonderful lens and an incredible value for money. I say this as an amateur photographer for fifty plus years with over 75 lenses and experience with many more. I use this lens on a Sony a7II. It is very sharp and has great color and contrast. For me 40mm is the most versatile focal length, and I have several, including the Voigtlander Ultron 40mm f2, the Konica 40mm f1.8, and the Carl Zeiss Jena 40mm f4.5. Focus ring feel smooth to turn, good grip but wish it had a rubber texture to enhance the feel but good that my nick pick. The lens out of the box feels high quality, much more than the standard Sony EF lenses, not the G or GM. The lens has a nice “heavy” metal body and smooth focal ring that feels great. The packaging surprisingly was great. The lens itself creates quite stunning pictures for its price. The clarity of it is better than expected and performs well. Has a usbc input for updating the firmware/software as your camera updates. Over all so far the lens was a great purchase. Fantastic lens. It's an f/1.4 nifty fifty that is sharp as heck wide open. Tad on the heavy side for a 50mm, but I'll pay that tax to get outstanding optics for the price. AF works really well after an easy firmware update on my A7Riii. I've taken over 5000 shots with it so far... Many in very challenging lighting at a wedding reception...
