The media could not be loaded. Viltrox keeps putting out excellent lenses at a great price. The fact that this 56mm F1.7 comes with front/rear cap, a lens hood (though a bit too small to be effective), and storage pouch is pretty awesome for a budget lens. The contruction is all plastic, except for the lens mount (which also has the USB C port for firmware upgrades). The plastic is high quality and feels solid, but lightweight. The mount clicks onto my Zf body without any play and works perfectly. The autofocus isn't as snappy as I would like. It's also still plenty fast to capture moving children or fast moving pets. The best part is how tiny this lens is. Since it's APS-C, it has an equivalent focal length of 85mm...but in the size of a 56mm lens. On my Zf, it detects that it's an APS-C lens and crops down to 10mp instead of the full frame 24mp. It works fine and gives me a lot of reach for such a small lightweight lens. The sharpness from wide open is impressive. The colors and contrast are quite good as well. The sample shots included are straight out of camera. The bokeh is lovely and smooth and the colors really pop. There also doesn't seem to be much flare when shooting into a bright light source. Also upgrading the firmware is super easy...as with all Viltrox lenses. Just plug the lens into the your computer and copy the firmware file to it. The lens "reboots" and its fully upgraded. Wish everything was that easy. Overall, the value and performance are top notch, maybe the build quality isn't all metal, but everything works well and the images are very nice. Highly recommended!

Bought this lens with excitement as one of the first z mount at f1.4 I could find or afford. However the lens does not focus on stars - which is why I bought this lens, for astrophotography given the aperture. No matter what, AF or MF, stars turn out as little blurry halos, not crisp points of light like my other f2.8 lens captures. Very sad and disappointed, this ruined a photography trip I’ve been dreaming about for years.

Decent affordable lens for crop-sensor bodies. The hood is junk, but the lens itself is ok. Plastic, but feels well-made. Optically, it's ok. Could do better, but could also do much worse. For the price, it's exactly what you'd expect it to be. It's a good focal length for portraits on a crop body.
