I have both the viltrox 50mm and nikon 50mm...The viltrox is sharper and yields nicer bokeh.....the nikon is a very good lens and the viltrox is superior in all aspects......the critical test of a lens is how the lens performs at open f-stop and the viltrox is truly great..

    • Good price but hit or miss performance

The lens sits very snug on the z mount. It also had some defective machining probably which means the lock pin on the camera doesn't lock properly without having to wiggle the lens multiple times to make it set properly on the camera. Besides that the lens misses on autonomous about 25% of the times. I updated the firmware which did not help with focus. The images when good are good but the focus is hit or miss. I also own the 85 mm evo and that one is undeniably a good lens but the 50 mm has been a disappointment. The reason I still gave it 3 stars is when the images are in focus they are good and the price is good for f2.0. ... show more

At this price you get a lightweight and thoroughly sharp nifty 50. It seems well put together, with a metal mount, and focuses as fast as my native Nikon lenses. This lens is a total no-brainer. Amazing quality and speed on a Nikon Z5ii, for an used old lens price. Color is right on, as sharp as any 50, focuses well. Only nit I have is I wish it focused a bit closer.
