I just got this lens delivered yesterday. I was just playing with it last night. Initial impression is that, it is very sharp, even at 1.4 at the minimum focusing distance. For comparison, my other Fuji lenses are the Fuji 18-55, 16-55, and 35mm/2.

I recently bought the Fuji XT3 and planned to use my Canon lenses, however, the performance of the adapted lens was similar to adapting lenses my Sony systems...slow. So, I decided to try the Viltrox 85MM with AF, but I was skeptical. What a pleasant surprise! Based on the build quality, AF performance and sharp photos, this Viltrox lens is under priced--just my humble opinion. The AF is almost as fast as my very expensive Fuji 16-55MM/F2.8. I now await the Viltrox 33MM/F1.4 and will probably buy the Viltrox 23MM as well! ... show more

    • Great lens with a few quirks

I read all the positive and negative reviews I could find on the lens before making the plunge. I was excited when the lens came and I tried it out with my XT-2 and XT-1. Like everyone has said, lens is incredible. I read that there is a new firmware update that will take the lens down to f/1.6. So, I tried to update the firmware only to find out that the USB port did not work on it. I ended up sending it back to Amazon for replacement. The replacement came, the USB port worked.... the firmware update did not. Researched it and found it will not work for the Fuji line. Really not happy, but it did not stop me from using the lens. One quirk I've noticed is, when shooting Manual on both the XT-1 and XT-2, the exposure compensation, shows negative 5. So, when you look through the viewer or live view, the screen is dark and the lens hunts. If you leave the camera in Auto. You do not have an issue. But, who will use the lens in Auto? I swapped out the lens for a fuji lens and the exposure compensation is fine. Not sure what the fix is yet. ... show more
