  • Good general purpose wide angle lens
Size: 20mm f2.8 Z Full Frame
I use this on a Zfc and typically swap between it and a 35mm lens (for a tighter FOV). I use this lens most of the time, though. Even though it is a wide angle lens, I find it a practical lens in many cases where I am taking quick shots and can crop a little bit for composition later. It has a flat field with only slight vignetting. The aperture of the lens is fairly good sized which probably explains how forgiving it appears to be. While the edge performance is good, because of the larger aperture I can stop it down below max (which I commonly only open all of my lenses up to max of one stop below wide open as a practice, which is a good practice especially with low light star fields) and still get excellent lower light performance. The len’s autofocus capability with my Nikon is excellent, fast, and seamless. Given the price point of the lens and the overall high image quality, this was an easy call for a max rating. ... show more

  • Quality, pocket-ability & coverage that makes Nikon Z DX a serious photography camera line
Size: 56mm f1.7 Z
Viltrox Z mount lenses are so good, they push the Nikon DX Z series into an entirely new category. Coupled with a Z30 or Z50 you can assemble a very capable & portable street and portrait kit for less than $600 . The complements the limited Nikkor DX options, creating a complete Z-mount APS-C line for photography. The result is Pocketable enough to compel you to leave your smartphone in your pocket and actually capture beautiful photos again. The 56mm lens build quality is fantastic , rivaling Sigma , and a leap above my Nikon DX prime lens. It focuses quickly and quietly. Excellent tolerance on the metal mount, flawless aperature and pristine glass. The firmware update process was trivial with a usb cable, and improved focus quite a bit by reducing the amount of hunting in AF-C mode in one or two scenarios. Even computer novices could update within a couple minutes. With the Z30 & battery the weight comes in at 1lb 6 oz . that's half the weight of a similar full frame & lens, and a few oz more than a fixed lens travel zoom. It's my first Viltrox lens, having used Sigma & Tamron I expected some compromises, but right out of the box it exceeded my expectations. ... show more

  • Great little lens
Size: 20mm f2.8 Z Full Frame
Very light and compact lens for my Z Nikon camera. Can't comment on the optical performance yet, but it focuses fast and very quiet. The continuous focusing ring is smooth and helpful with focus peaking if used. The provided lens hood is convenient, but would've been better if it had a "click" positive attach on both in use or reversed on the lens for transport. And the price is right! I would've rank this 5 stars if their website had better user/customer features. I've tried to contact them via website chat with no response (even if they claim to reply if you leave your email address). The customer account section is rather lacking in terms of features and their "rewards" program is apparently unusable if you don't purchase directly through the website. Since I've purchased the lens from Viltrox via Amazon, it should offer an option to register the product and eventually receive F/W updates alerts. Had to dig into their support section to find out the latest F/W update. At least the updating process is easy using the incorporated USB port. ... show more

  • Viltrox 20mm 2.8: Life Saving Event Lens
Size: 20mm f2.8 Z Full Frame
Totally punches above its price. I highly encourage anyone buy this to add to their kit. It's small enough to add to your bag as an event photographer and barely notice it, yet if you run into a moment when your widest lens isnt wide enough, this lens will save you!! I have used it at multiple events when the client suddenly wants a "group photo", with every guest in it. This lens is cheap, its plastic, I understand, but the value you get from it is insane. I pair it with the Tamron 35-150 and it has saved me many times. I cannot say enough about how useful it is to have a small lens that is this wide. Some say that the 16mm is better, sharper, wider, etc. Those things might be true. But this lens is cheaper, lighter, and smaller; I recon I'd take this with me over the 16 any day. As a landscape or architecture photographer, it might be better to get the 16, but for people and events, 20 is great and 2.8 doesn't even matter. This lens comes out for group shots, you're shooting it at f8 anyway. To sum up. Buy this lens. Its small and wide. Perfect for the occasional wide shots at a wedding. Wont take up a ton of space, but its an important focal length to cover. ... show more

  • Great portrait and event lens for a Z-50
Size: 56mm f1.4 Z
I do a good bit of photography of musicians playing at small venues, capturing both them and people listening. These venues tend to be dimly lit, so a big bit of glass is really helpful. This lens delivers great shots in low light, and really nice blurred backgrounds when wide open. Auto focus seems to be as good as the Nikon kit lenses and everything feels well built. If you're a Z-50 owner with the kit lenses, prepare yourself for a bit more bulk. The laws of physics are pretty strict around what it takes to gather more light, and that means more glass size and more glass weight. All in all, a very good lens at a great price. ... show more
