  • Great little lens
Size: 20/2.8 Air (for Nikon)
This is a very lightweight lens made of plastic. The images are wonderful. Used it at a wedding yesterday. Sharp and focused easily in low light. Definitely worth it.

  • Good general purpose wide angle lens
Size: 20/2.8 Air (for Nikon)
I use this on a Zfc and typically swap between it and a 35mm lens (for a tighter FOV). I use this lens most of the time, though. Even though it is a wide angle lens, I find it a practical lens in many cases where I am taking quick shots and can crop a little bit for composition later. It has a flat field with only slight vignetting. The aperture of the lens is fairly good sized which probably explains how forgiving it appears to be. While the edge performance is good, because of the larger aperture I can stop it down below max (which I commonly only open all of my lenses up to max of one stop below wide open as a practice, which is a good practice especially with low light star fields) and still get excellent lower light performance. The len’s autofocus capability with my Nikon is excellent, fast, and seamless. Given the price point of the lens and the overall high image quality, this was an easy call for a max rating. ... show more

  • It just works!
Size: 20/2.8 Air (for Nikon)
It sounds like a low bar, but it just works is miles above a lot of other inexpensive third-party lenses. I wouldn't describe the auto focus as fast, but it's more than sufficient for a wide angle lens where the generous depth of field makes sharpness less critical. There's a bit of vignetting, which you might not even notice after you've composed your shot. Editing my photos, I notice there's some color quantizing. (The posted examples are unedited, aside from converting from NEF to JPG, taken on a Nikon Zf.) It's not a macro lens, but the minimum focus distance is generous, allowing you to compose beautiful backgrounds on close subjects. 20mm is a nice focal length in that there's not a lot of distortion and you can get a lot of depth stopping down just a bit. The lens is lightweight, which might feel cheap to some, but if you've got several prime lenses in your bag, you might appreciate. There's no rattle and the focus ring operation is smooth, so I don't have any doubts of the build quality. There's no aperture ring, so there's less complexity. I appreciate the lens hood, if anything just to protect the frontal element when I set the camera down. For travel, this lens has become a go-to for me. It's lightweight, simple, not-to-dear, and 20mm full-frame seems to work for a wide variety of shots. ... show more

  • Viltrox is amazing!
Size: 20/2.8 Air (for Nikon)
This lens stayed attached to my Fuji ZF and has gotten me some amazing shots. Since I don't own any native Nikon lenses, I don't have anything to compare the autofocus to, but it is super fast regardless

  • Viltrox 20mm 2.8: Life Saving Event Lens
Size: 20/2.8 Air (for Nikon)
Totally punches above its price. I highly encourage anyone buy this to add to their kit. It's small enough to add to your bag as an event photographer and barely notice it, yet if you run into a moment when your widest lens isnt wide enough, this lens will save you!! I have used it at multiple events when the client suddenly wants a "group photo", with every guest in it. This lens is cheap, its plastic, I understand, but the value you get from it is insane. I pair it with the Tamron 35-150 and it has saved me many times. I cannot say enough about how useful it is to have a small lens that is this wide. Some say that the 16mm is better, sharper, wider, etc. Those things might be true. But this lens is cheaper, lighter, and smaller; I recon I'd take this with me over the 16 any day. As a landscape or architecture photographer, it might be better to get the 16, but for people and events, 20 is great and 2.8 doesn't even matter. This lens comes out for group shots, you're shooting it at f8 anyway. To sum up. Buy this lens. Its small and wide. Perfect for the occasional wide shots at a wedding. Wont take up a ton of space, but its an important focal length to cover. ... show more

  • Excellent value
Size: 20/2.8 Air (for Nikon)
I bought this to supplement my Nikon 24-120MM lens with is my standard shooting choice on my Nikon Z8. Right off the bat the camera is materially lighter to use. This is big as coupled with high quality optical features this lens shoots beautifully. It also has the optical tweaks built into Photoshop and Lightroom. They help dissipate soft corners and other unwanted optical aberrations. Overall an excellent optical performer and well built exceeded what you would expect for the money. Need even shaper pictures, shoot 5.6. ... show more

  • Small, inexpensive lens.
Size: 20/2.8 Air (for Nikon)
It's fine for an inexpensive lens. Kind of wish it had a AF/MF switch, instead of having to go into a menu to switch back and forth. I've used on both a Nikon Z50II and a Z8. Does not seem to report back properly when manually focusing. I was trying to take some star pictures and focus at infinity. To get the sharpest photos, I was focusing at what it was reporting back as 7.6ft. Vignettes pretty heavily in the corners on full frame. ... show more
