Not certain this is a light that I would suggest to be on-camera. It's a bit large IMO for that. It's light enough to pack but the 7"X4.5"X2" (rough) dimensions make it a bit cumbersome to put on a rig. That said this little sucker is light, bright and I would definitely pack this as a VERY PORTABLE key light or fill light. You can power via the USB-C connection or by the supplied NP-F550 Battery. The implementation of the NP type of battery means you can opt to get some additional or larger batteries for longer run times. Good design choice. I might want to put this on a separate stand or at the very least an additional arm off the tripod or cage. The frosted diffusive lens is OK but if in the studio I might opt for some additional diffusion to soften it a bit more. The app... well it worked for me, not much headache. Just had to ensure the ID setting on the light was set properly and it connected immediately. Only color temp and brightness with this one, no RGB adjustment. There are some FX settings but with no RGB, only Lightening and Candlelight have any practical use. I doubt I will use any of these. Given how well the app connected for me, I wish I had gotten the RGB version of this model. I think it would make for a very versatile portable light just like this one.

I really liked the concept of this light and thought it would work very well for the architectural photography that I do. Sometimes I photograph buildings in very low light conditions, and I thought this light would be ideal as a continuous-on fill light along with the flash. I thought it may even work as a flashlight for short term use - again, since some areas that I photograph are in very low light conditions. The light looked well-constructed (although, the base that attaches to the shoe was a bit flimsy considering the weight of the lamp). I fully charged the rechargeable battery that came with the light and went to test it out. The instructions are very vague so I had to take a lot of test shots in my house to figure out the ideal angle, light output, camera settings, etc. would be best. After about 15 minutes of testing, I came up with the best way to use it. It was not as bright as I had hoped (setting for the light was set to 100%) so it did not do too well as a fill light off the ceiling to reduce shadows, etc. - which I was hoping for. But because I had also purchased extra (manufacturer's brand) batteries and charger for this light, I felt I could still have some use for it - just maybe not what I was hoping for. That was until I noticed the remaining battery life. After 15 minutes of on and off use the battery went from 100% to 20%. For most on-site work, this would not be enough battery life for any amount of work - even with the extra batteries.
